No. They are doing it because they want another world record. The record is for the most players to vote for a single event on a MMORPG site.. So, they figured. Since everyone loved PK, won't everyone vote to get it back? ... Exactlyyyy. Oh well, I don't care how we get it. We need 1.2m votes to get it back, (did the math) that's more than half of RS. Sooo, win win.

I'm stupid? You haven't taken any other factors beyond into consideration. They've specifically asked voters to pass the word on to friends etc. They want inactive players to come back. There have been over 100 million accounts created on RuneScape. Correct me if my math is wrong but 1.2million is not near half of that.

 

Wtf is wrong with you. There are way more accounts on runescape, and they don't care about legit votes (which is why I think they are doing a double whammy - Game award for most votes, and ppl thinking they have a say in the game).

Just put in a random account name and you can vote for that account.

Scam.

 

In the end it doesn't matter how many votes they get: the wildy and free trade will be implemented anyway.
