My main account has 54 prayer and I would like to shoot for 70 prayer. He does not have a gilded altar. What would be the best way to achieve this while saving the most money?

 

Go to world 72 and spam at the Yanille house portal

"Looking for g altar" Whenever someone responds with a name then enter in that persons house.

 

What would be the best route to take bone wise? And do I need to bring the herbs to light the altar or will it probably be already lit?

 

The owner will light the altar for you.

 

If your in someone else's house the altar will be lit. Just go from the house portal to bank and back. That's the fastest way when using someone else's altar.

 

Just calculated it will take 20m from 54-70 using a gilded altar with dragon bones. Is there any way to bring the price down any? That's a bit much.

 

gilded altar is the cheapest you will get, i would let you use my mains altar but it is f2p

 

Use big bones instead of dragon bones. It will save you a lot of money in the long run, although you may level up a lot slower compared to using d bones.

 

Falador teleport tab and House teleport tab (MAKE SURE TO SET THE HOUSE OPTIONS TO TELEPORT OUTSIDE YOUR HOUSE, NOT INSIDE, THIS WILL SAVE YOU A LOT OF TIME)

And no, it stucks but 54-70 costs roughly 15-20m, just did this on my main.

Don't use 72, use 31. Join the cc "Housesw31", and ask "House?" and they'll tell you who is open.

To be the most efficient you can, use your highest beast of burden filled with bones. House tabs & dueling rings are also very helpful. For the house tabs make sure you set it so that your house teleport puts you outside of your house, and put your house in Yanille (50 Con required).
