VICTORVILLE • At least 10 Silverado High School students were arrested Thursday following an on-campus fight ignited by racial tensions, officials said.


Two large groups of students — one black and the other Hispanic — were facing off during the high school’s first lunch period, according to Karen Hunt, spokeswoman for the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Victorville station.


The disturbance forced school officials to call in assistance from the Sheriff’s Department.


“Before the fight even started, deputies and school resource officers were on scene,” Hunt said.


Officials were trying to get the groups of back to class when two fights involving 10 to 15 students broke out. While breaking up one of the fights, two students struck school officials, Hunt said.


Officials arrested four students for assault, two for assault on a school official and at least four other students for challenging others to fight, Hunt said.

By my count this is the third time this week I've seen that riot gun. They also carry tazers, today they were firing the riot guns at students. I've seen people also tased a few feet in front of me. Actually, I was standing there watching a fight, and a taser projectile flew in front of my face and hit the black girl behind me.
