    The case against the Wii

My similarly titled PS3 topic has reached the third page of General Discussion, so I'd say it's about time to attack another console, one that sucks just as much: The Wii.

The first and most obvious point to address is the motion sensing. The motion sensing is the whole point of the Wii: Without a Wiimote to flail around, it's basically just a tiny white Gamecube (I know there are some extras like the Weather Channel and web browser, but those kinds of features wouldn't have been too hard to implement on a Gamecube.)

So what's the motion sensing like? Well, IT DOESN'T WORK!!! You know what the most important aspect of ANYTHING is? That it functions properly!! I know from personal experience that atleast 50% of all motion-based controller input will either not respond or respond opposite to the input.
Take, for example, Wii Sports: The game that comes with every Wii and has it's primary function being to demonstrate to Wii owners what the motion-sensing is like.
    • In Tennis, 20% of racket swings will swing the wrong way, making the player have to instantly realize this and swing again to recover, losing proper timing, which is what the game revolves around.
    • In Baseball, 80% of bat swings will swing at the wrong time, not because of bad timing on the player's part, but because the console can't respond to motion instantly, unlike a button. The player can't even compensate because the responsiveness randomly fluctuates on a move-per-move basis.
    • In Bowling, 5% of balls are retracted.
    • In Golf, 20% of club swings are retracted, and another 20% drastically over- or undershoot the swing's power.
    • In Boxing, 90% of punches swing the wrong way or wrong direction, and another 9% don't swing at all.
Remember, this isn't some rushed third-party game I picked out because of its bad controls. Wii Sports is made by Nintendo, for Nintendo, for the purpose of demonstrating the motion sensing... And these are the controls we got. The point I'm trying to make here is that it's not just Wii Sports. I'd call 99% a safe bet as to how many Wii games have some kind of control-related problem.
"You know what the most important part of a game is? Well, being able to fuckin' play it!" And I would place controls into that category.

Well surely if the motion sensing doesn't work then the Wii must make up for it in other features, I mean how else do you explain the great sales?
Well let's see what other interesting features there are. There's... Um... Uhhh... Well there's the Wii Shop Channel in case you're in the small minority that hasn't played those games a million times before. Huh, small minority, doesn't sound so appealing... But wait! Now it's gonna get new games just like Xbox Live Arcade has... Which isn't much of an advantage cause, you know, there ARE CDs. So I guess Wii Shop Channel is a feature that strikes the reaction, "oh, that's nice."
Other than that, all of the Wii's features are trivial and/or easily available elsewhere.

So, what's there left to address? Games, obviously. You can't have a good game console without good games. So what are the great games everyone's raving about?
    • The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess: Another Zelda game that reiterates the same shit we've seen a million times before, but slightly worse.
    • Metroid Prime 3: Corruption: The first two things you should find out about any game before buying it are 1. What platform is it on? (Don't want a game you can't play), and 2. What genre is it in? (Don't want to buy a game and find out that you hate cause it's turn-based, etc.) Well, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption is a First-Person Shooter on the Wii: Automatic failure.
    • Super Mario Galaxy: Just by looking at this game I can tell it has horrible controls.
    • Wii [insert generic term]: I can't expect much from the controls based on Wii Sports, especially considering they all look the same, and even if the controls ave gotten better these are still extremely short and can never last longer than a week or two.
And that's it: A series of generic games, along with Zelda again, Metroid again, and Mario again.

You epicly fail. Epic ... EPIC fail.

You see, Nintendo didn't make the Wii to have great specs - though they could have. If they did, the price would have risen dramatically, and would be as overrated as PS3.

Just because Zelda, Metroid, and Mario are in a series, doesn't make them bad. I've stopped bashing Halo, its behind me, its not a bad game, I just ndon't like it. Halo is in a series, but people don't call it generic do they? Its the same thing each time with some different weapons and campaigns.

The motion detection does so work. Saying it doesn't is like me saying 99% of Americans are stupid. IMO Capital punishment should be introduced for stupidity, but how about we take off all of the safety labels in Walmart and let the problem solve itself?

The motion detection works as well as I could want it to. I've never had a stuff-up, failure, or bug in the controller or movement. The controllers also use Bluetoothe to send their signals, thus also making your point about baseball obsolete - Xbox and PS3 also use Bluetoothe bitch.

Your statistics are drastically wrong about the boxing also. Copy pasta please?

Don't even get me started on your points about the sales - PEOPLE BUY IT BECAUSE THEY LIKE IT, NOT BECAUSE OF THE FUCKING XBOX LIVE ARCADE ETC.

Anyway, I only say the PS3 is overrated because the hype is unneeded for a bunch of computer circuits.

Console bashers, please, just go die. Or get a life, either or.

Okay Muffinraper, you asked for it.

    I'm also guessing

    1) Your parents are too poor/fat to get you a Wii
    2) You haven't played a Wii
    3) You lick massive sized cock
    4) You haven't ever played a Wii game
    5) You lick massive sized cock.
    6) You have no friends, which is why bashing consoles sums up your entire life.
    7) You lick massive sized cock.
    8) You lick massive sized cock.
    9) Get some friends, cockmonster.
    10) You lick massive sized BLACK cock.

Seriously, stop being a faggoty MS fanboy and get over yourself.

    1. How can the weather channel be put on the gamecube if the gamecube had no online connection. The statement you made just made you become the new Forum Retard. :O
    2. The motion sensors do work, im a proud owner of the 360 and wii, and maybe ps3 because of lower price. The wii is the best out of all 3.

xbox: can't play too long or overheat
wii: Can play for longest time
ps3: Just plain sucks but ill get it anyway.

When you swing your wiimote, they don't mean swing it like a 2 year old. IF you have tried the wii, that was probably what you done, or would do if you get one.

In tennis, it depends on which side you swing you wiimote, and you have to stand STILL, gosh. Boxing sucks, yes i know, but all the others dont.

Finally, the wii shopchannel has got to be the best thing that has ever come to a system. The ability to play old games. poor microsoft is adding a couple, while wii gets them everyday. i finally got to play games i wasn't able to years ago because i had not owned a nes, snes, 64, etc.

So, with my last words i say to you.

IF YOU THINK THE WII IS SO BAD, TRY IT. MY FRIENDS TRIED IT AFTER THEY SAID IT SUCKED, AND HALF OF THEM GOT WII's.

AND IF YOU CAN'T AFFORD THE SYSTEM THEN YOU SIR ARE POOR

im so lucky i got mine on first day.. :) 250 ftw, now its like 375 XD
