The case against the PS3

Not another console war thread! But this is different. In this post, I will not compare the consoles to say that one is better, I will look exclusively at the PS3 and why it is terrible.


To start, there's Blu-Ray. I've heard of exactly two things that Blu-Ray does: Enhance technical graphics (enables 1080p), and allow for more information on discs.

Graphics don't really matter (games don't magically become more fun when they look better), and even if they did, graphics depend on the game; I think most people would agree that Geometry Wars: Evolved looks better than Robotron: 2084 despite them being on the same system. If someone made PS3 Pong, it still wouldn't be any more than two bars and a dot, despite Blu-Ray. Furthermore, even if Blu-Ray forced every game to live up to the graphical maximum, there's still the problem that I've never seen any discernible difference between 1080i and 1080p.

As for more information, how much information do you really need? I've never heard any game company say "we were going to have more levels, but oh darn, we just didn't have Blu-Ray." And even if that were the case, any game like that could easily just cut down on a less important feature, like graphics.

So all Blu-Ray really does is jack the price up to 600$.


Another feature the PS3 is often praised for is the Playstation Network, it's free online system. Aside from a web browser, which you have anyway if you're reading this, the PSN's features are mostly game-related, which isn't bad, it's good actually, but combined with my next point...


Games. Fun exclusive games are by far the most important aspect of ANY console. Many PS3 fans will cite such games as Resistance: Fall of Man, Heavenly Sword, and Warhawk, but those all suck.
I can guarantee that any PS3 game in existence is either not exclusive, not yet released, or not fun.

And blue ray doesn't even make the graphics better, hardly. its like HD.

And it helps you hold more information on a disk ext. How many movies can you hold? I can't think of 500 movies off the top of my head, let alone 40thousand.

All PS3 exclusives suck according to who? You? Seeing as you've probably never played any of them, your opinion is not valid.
Watch me make an argument just like yours: The 360 has games like Gears of War, Halo 3, Mass Effect. Unfortunately they all suck dick and therefore the 360 fails.

Also, last time I checked, PS3's went for 399. Your price argument fails. $399 for a console that can play Blu Rays? Awesome deal.

BluRay discs may not be essential to games, but it's not like they will ever hinder them. Devs might not really need the extra space, but since they have the option, they could utilize it if need be.

Games shouldn't be bashed according based solely on graphics, though amazing looking games can still be praised and admired.
BluRay or the PS3 isn't forcing anyone to make better graphics or whatnot. It's giving Devs options. As far as I can tell, devs like options.


If those are the best arguments you can come up with against the PS3. Then seriously...fail.

Just a SLICE? Heavenly Sword is a rip off of God of War. But I know you'll deny that, so: Lair has horrible controls. But I know you'll deny that, so: Warhawk looks like half air combat where you can't hit anything, half Star Wars Battlefront rip off. But I know you'll deny that.

 

What are you basing your opinion of Warhawk on? You've never played it and according to you reviews don't count for shit, so you don't listen to them either.

Lair DOES have horrible controls. However, have you played it? Nope.

Hmmm, you listed three exclusives? Way to be extensive. You specifically said that ALL PS3 exclusives were shit. In fact, you guaranteed it. You have yet to provide concrete evidence for games such as Ratchet and Clank, Uncharted etc. etc. You guaranteed remember? Prove it bitch.

When the ps3's get the price drop and the new 40 gigs come out without ps2 backwars compatibility and only ps1 it will be the cheapest blu-ray player , probably the only I would want it for. btw unknown murdoc ftw...

im my complex every1 has a xbox 360 with live..the reason for this is baecause p3s is bassiclly like a psp but not handheld and blue ray sucks...we all have blue ray dvd players..thats y..but p3s should of stayed at p2n tahts my opinion...
