An Alternative to Italicization for TwC

Hey

Firstly, I love the idea of making sure that users with TwC's should be easier to distinguish from other, but I don't think Italicization is the way to go, Italicization in my opinion wouldn't make me think they were anything special, in fact on most forums I'm used to them being users who are awaiting email confirmation.

Instead I suggest a small rank Icon next to their name, such as a smaller version of The TwC exclamation Triangles, a bunch of forums use these to distinguish users from others, such as staff, I'm pretty sure it could work very well for TwC users.

Heres an example of what it would look like, Im just using one of the post icons on here, bare in mind it could be something else.

Yes!!! Totally agreed! It'll be easier to identify a TWCed user, and that's a good step.

Showed this to Govind. I've also been discussing some changes in this with him. It will probably change at least a little.

 

I don't even see the need to change the TWC display. How is it not clear to someone, big bold triangle signs, with wording.

although, the big fat multi colored rank isn't exactly hard to see, and i'm not sure why anyone would care if a TwCed user is online, unless they're trading with them, in which case a PM or a post will notify the user that the member has a TWC, unless they're color-blind and can't read, but a small angry tomato is fun. It's fresh.

The rank also displays everywhere that matters, in the postbit on PMs and posts.

 

I dont really see the need for either the italicized font or the suggested emoticon type thing honestly, the TWC itself is big and hard to miss..
But honestly the italicized font looks kinda cool hahaha, of the two i would definitely say this suggestion makes alot more since. The upset little smiley face definitely communicates the point better.

 

Honestly if you keep punishing users with no intentions of scamming they're going to get pissed off and leave? It's just common sense.

 

Hello, I can see here and from your previous posts around these forums that you're rather set in your ways of how you think sythe works, which is a shame. If you do not think giving a user a TwC when they have acted untrustfully or have been reported for scamming but not enough proof, which is a preventative measure to protect the actual trustworthy members of the site, then there is no point of you contributing to this thread.

This thread assumes you already agree with the TwC, like practically all of our members (those who disagree tend to have a TwC). Therefore your contribution to this thread is both null and pointless.

 

Excuse me for being a bit slow, but where exactly would it appear? Everywhere the members name appears? Including every post?

 

I don't think you understand what I said. I'm not against giving TWC's out, hence the "people with no intentions to scam" if you read close enough. I honestly do know how the site works, it's not like we have politicians and college professors running this site, it's a bunch of teenagers and middle aged adults. It's simple, you guys are punishing harshly for the wrong things, leading to everyone getting pissed off and fighting. Instead of increasing the restrictions on non-scammers and bringing scammers back into the community (pardon system changes), work on the community itself and keeping scammers out. The TWC rank is doing fine, so why would you want to change it?

I don't see the point in doing this. The only time that TwC really matters is on their profile/posts and it's clearly visible there...

 

If you really want to make things easy to notice put up a warning popup when someone goes to make a Private Message with them.

"The user you are about to PM has been issues a "Trade with Caution" rank. This means that trading with them bears an increased chance of Paypal and account chargebacks, scamming, and other risks. Press continue to send this Private Message."

You could add a 'do not show this message again for this user' button and even go as far as disabling the posting of MSN addresses for those users.

I don't think we need more TWC images other than the rank though.

 

I honestly think the rank is more than enough of a warning, any more would be simply stepping into the realm of obnoxious.

 

I agree that the rank is enough. Have we ever really had anybody complain about being scammed and state that they didn't spot the TwC? I've never really seen one.

 

This is just over the top for those who are legitimate traders who have just had unfortunate circumstances or made a small cock up. Perhaps an addition to the Sythe FAQ or somewhere further explaining the TWC rank such as the message you mentioned just now but the rank is enough of a burden for them imo.

 

That's what a trade with caution is for though, regardless of the reason it was received. And let's be fair, only a minority of new users will read through the FAQ entirely.
