Correct me if I am wrong, but Kadaj did admit that he ban evaded, and that's why he's banned.

So I haven't seen any actual proposals here, just a lot of whining. You want a system to measure banned-user reform? Ok what system? How would it work? Who will pay for it? etc. etc.

I am not whining here :p

But yes, more or less, allow second chances in disputes, if a user has made a mistake in the past, and you can see he has completely changed now, give him a chance on the community, Plznate is a perfect example, who self-vouched a very long time ago, i'm sure it's pretty clear (considering his ranks & vouches) he never had any intentions of scamming, etc. And he is a legit guy overall.

The proposal would be to consider these kind of disputes in the appeal a ban section, like when plznate appealed, he was denied, although we can see he was a very good character, and legit guy. That would be an example of a second chance. (Although he made a mistake in the past, allowing him back on Sythe)

I am not sure about the system etc overall, but it's just a small idea, i hadn't thought too much about that.

Edit: Sythe, I've sent you a PM, please check it, thanks.

You have 6 people that have changed for the best, out of hundreds if not thousands of scammers, but imagine if it was your money that was scammed, would you want to see that person trading again? And at the end of the day, if the person was genuine, would they of done it in the first place?

I think that gathering the support of the community and seeing if a great uproar would happen if changes are made is an important first step to any major change so that time isn't wasted in making a system that isn't used. Also, during the discussion (which there doesn't seem to be a lot of in here) issues may be brought up that need to be dealt with in any system created that may have been overlooked without any prior discussion.

well even in rl people get second chances.

    here is a possible system:
People who have been banned for reasons other than scamming and have been accepted back to the community either by Sythe's approval (like he did with driveahonda and others i think) or by a thread created for them and people to post saying why that member should be allowed back on sythe.

next the user would have to send a Deposit (any amount). If they send $500 then can do trades up to $500, this way if they do scam there is a way to get the scammed member their money back. this would also pay for the system bc if somebody scams for $50 when they have depositted $100 then sythe just made $50. Or a $10 fee can be added to each unbanned member for having to go throught this process. A simple paypal account can handle all this.

possibly even a title can be added next to there name that lets the community know that this member is here on his/her second chance.

in order for the said memeber to get their deposit back they must be leaving sythe bc if their $$ falls below a certain lvl then they should get rebanned. Of course this system is only for those who have proven themselves trustworthy and have vouches including bigger trades.

Your first bit involving the $500 would be a good idea I feel. Though I believe it would be very hard to implement and both timewasting for the mod's unfortunately :S

And that saying is false. If it's not, Finn needs to be banned because he scammed and it doesn't matter that he's trusted now and we shouldn't ban him, why? Cause he CHANGED...hence, if Finn isn't banned, that statement is false. Don't use it here, the OP even mentioned Finn scammed and you still use this "saying?" Please, don't be an idiot.

You are correct people in real life get second chances. you forget that 50% in real life that get a second chance go back to what they were doing before.

This is true, if these people would of stepped up admitting they were wrong in the first place, which is what I think Finn did, they would have their second chance. Maybe a system would work as something like this, just a short little discription.

Ban-Evading = Perm Ban, appealable, but Sythe's system works like this. If a person scammed someone, and pays them back, then their unbanned. I feel the person should first payback like this.
    $1-15 item = refund 2x the amount
    $30 + = refund money + 20% of the money.
On top of that, there should be a 1 month ban.
Scamming (Admitting to a scam) = Many factors come in, it would be most suggested that Sythe himself or staff members vote on a temp ban or perm ban and if so a temp ban, the length of it.
Phishing = IP Ban. No APPEALS, hate assholes like these, why do people like getting viruses on people's pc's?

Where did u get this statistic? First of all, it depends on the situation, maybe if it was a speeding ticket, it could mean a lot to someone and would change them in that split second. Maybe its someone who could care less and does it again. These situations are offered 2nd chances but it depends on the person if they change.

And just to prove ur statistic wrong, 99.999% (can't say 100% bc if someone lies and then dies the second after, then its not 100%) of people that lie, will go back to lying again in their lifetime. So basically the grand majority of liers don't change. Plus 99.99999% of these people will be in this situation because 99.999% of people are liers.

Since you want to forgive all the people because they "change" lets forgive sigex and everyone else while were at it? since people do "change" also were did i say 100%. I am stating people that break laws are allot more likely to break it again.

Edit: aslo we can forget about them ddos attackers since people do change and all. also brandon, grave and the whole TC and Skype crews.

If it's like the law, most people are jailed for only so long, being kept from this community could be the same as if you have been jailed.

Jails have certain time sentences some for life though most for a period of time, like temp-bans, people come here and make mistakes, they are banned then they come back on a new/different account, some making it back as far as global moderator.

OBVIOUSLY they have changed, to give so much input to the community is a big thing, they are paying back for the trouble they made by moderating and keeping the site clean or just contributing by posting in threads and helping people.

I believe that people should be let back into the community, if they had scammed, maybe with a TWC if completely necessary.

Yes they may have broken the rules by vading but look how much they have contributed by doing so. Most of you will probably disagree but I hope you do see what I am getting at, if they didn't care about the site they wouldn't have come back.

There is a difference between people who done wrong and ban evaded to get back into the community compared to people who done wrong (scammed) then came back to scam again and again and again...

That is wrong, if user1 scams user2 and then user1 is banned for scamming, if they pay back user2, they will still not be unbanned. The only case in which people can be unbanned by paying people back is if their account is stolen/hacked and the hacker scams people on their account they can pay back EVERYTHING to be unbanned.

All those people should stay banned, anybody who thinks different means they are thinking like "the banned" and will probably follow their footsteps.
I don't care who did what for this community, or who donated $100, or sold pins to get 200+ vouches to look legit, they still did something "Bad" to be banned.
Let them stew in it, and maybe it will reflect on their real life character.

-Don't do dumb shit to get banned and you won't get banned, str8 up.

I think the admins should have the right to exempt people. If they are convinced, then I think the Sythe community should accept that. If the user has not changed, then it falls on the administrators head.

Exactly why they need to stay banned in the first place.
