A problem with Porn.

If you feel comfortable and want to do it,but your parents + some friends don't..then they don't actually care about you. Being 18, you are the one who should decide.

I hardly see how you can equate adult entertainment with murder... That's all kinds of fucked up thinking.

Luke's right, there's nothing morally wrong with being a porn star. There is, however, in some career paths, a social requirement for past performance. You don't want a senator with a history of laundering, or a boss who did porn in their early years. It paints a different picture of the person, and having done porn, you won't be able to command the same respect if people see it.

In certain careers, full past disclosure is required (as well as listing your past aliases).

 

Contradictory? If everyone saw porn stars as OK and completely moral, there wouldn't be this 'different picture.' Do you even know what morals are?

 

It has nothing to do with morals, it has to do with personality and numbers.

Look, rationally, a person with a history of drug abuse and theft will not be put in a position of bank manager. Not because what they did was morally wrong, but because what they did could compromise the efficiency of the company. The hiring manager will look at the person, and decide that a thief would not be the best choice for a bank.

The same goes for porn.

You can still be accepted for these things, but they will compromise certain career choices merely because of what they are. A leader cannot be a person with a past in porn because some people will not respect a person they've fancied (male or not).

And there's a difference between EVERYONE accepting an individual, and your family accepting you. There's a different standard with those who've known you your entire life.

 

Why would doing porn be immoral anyway? I wish it wasn't because I don't want people looking at me or thinking of my any different. I would still be the same person.

It's not that it's immoral, it's that it paints a different picture and people will know you differently.

Edit: Yes. A position of government, you have to disclose everything. Senators can't have a past that might interfere with their work with the public. They have to disclose everything before they get the job incase it comes up later and causes a situation to arise.

 

Two different scenarios, one which could cause problems in the future, and one which would make their company look bad. The thief might steal again, losing the company money, while an ex-porn star would make the company look bad. Why would they look bad? because people see it as immoral. If you're telling me it's moral (aka not not immoral), then tell me why it would look bad and hurt your future if people knew.

You know that rule "If you have to ask, don't do it"? I think that applies here..

 

What a lot of people in this thread are not realising that I got from the first post is that he is not signing up for Straight porn. What he has a contract in is gay porn. He's getting paid to blow guys and get boned (Sorry if it is to graphic).

Most people in this thread are under the assumption that porn is a good business to get into. It is by far not. Especially for males. Most male porn stars have to start out in gay porn, why? Because when you watch porn do you look at the how ripped the guy is? No you are mainly watching the girl correct? While a gay person will watch the men. this is where any money is for guys and often times they have to start here and work their way up.

If you were to ask me whether or not to do it. I would say no, you are making what? 300k? That's may seem like a great deal now, but think of the long term effects. You will have a hard time finding someone to hire you. Your friends will look at you differently and depending on how judgemental your parents are so will they.

But since you have already signed the contract you are stuck.
