Before anyone bitches, I googled this and went through history I couldnt manage to find this proposed so I PERSONALLY was unable to find an admin shooting it down.

The suggestion:

Create one universal stickied thread that contains each section and it's subsequent stickies listed like

Runescape Private servers:

This one sticky is to contain every section & subsection's rules and stickys the actual stickys can be hidden from members to prevent a flood of stickys in sections.


I suggest say, 5 stickys per section are sold, higher traffic sections(such as Rs gold) would cost more obviously.

These would rotate on 2 week-1 month timeframes.

Stickies could cost whatever sythe wishes.


I think this would be a great way of advertising business minus the VERY EXPENSIVE banners.


To put in into perspective, banners are going for $1500-$3500 per banner, stickies could run $20-$100(estimate).


Stickies would have to approved and stuck by an admin(or global).


To keep track, when sticking the staff could say "this is a paid sticky until x date x year sythe.org does not endorse products in these stickies".



Now this doesnt need implemented... but since admins/globals would be stickying threads I'd like to think perhaps they could be paid a % of each sticky for sticking them & removing them on time?


I think its a nice way to generate extra income for the site aswell as perhaps provide a way to pay site staff because they deserve some form of pay lol, their job fucking sucks,period, volunteer or not its like slave labor which is why so many are becoming inactive/not voting on pardons etc.


This could have FAR reaching implications in terms of the overall site so I encourage everyone to think twice before shooting this down.

No support. I don't think large companies should have the ability to snuff out smaller traders because they have more financial funds to invest. That's one of the reasons I prefer Sythe over other sites.

The price point is meant to HELP SMALLER COMPANYS :FACEPALM:

Smaller companys cant afford a $2k-$3k banner, this would provide them the chance to get a good solid advertisement much cheaper.

sigh...

 

100-300$ is not a small investment.

Edit: We both know they're not going to sell for 20-100$ when they're limited, forgot to mention that.

The way it is laid out works fine as is. It's easy to navigate and to find what you're looking for. What you're suggesting sounds like a clusterfuck. As far as selling stickies? No. Free market and same level-playing field.

And man, how you type is somewhat incomprehensible. You need to read what you've written and rewrite it.

 

If a sticky system were to be implemented it would surely be based on a bidding system like the banners, and would just widen the gap between the more popular sellers and the smaller sellers.

A bidding system wouldnt have to be put in place, thats the point of helping smaller sellers over us.

Yeah, my bad, I posted too soon without writing the full post and you replied before I could edit.

If they're limited then they will easily sell for in excess of 100$. Think of how many people like Bogla, Divica etc would like to purchase those stickies, what chance would a smaller business have in outbidding Bogla for a sticky? Even if it wasn't based on bidding I'm sure larger companies would have the ability to jump on it the second it's available.

As for smaller market sections, why would anyone want to purchase a sticky in those? If a sticky sold for 20$, that's almost nothing compared to the revenue Sythe generates from donations each month.

By ur logic selling banners should be removed to lol, thats still on-site encouraging people to go to certain sites that pay for that privilege, buying stickies is nothing diff, fail 2 see logic.

 

I like the idea, the problem for me would be that there already is a couple stickied threads in each section, so if we sold 5 - say there is 10 in one section, thats a large portion of the first page which seems kinda dumb.

But I like the idea and I don't see why it hasn't been done as it has been adapted on many other sites.

 

I can't believe you're suggesting this and I too can't believe you place yourself on the same grounds as bogla.

The logic is the fact that there is already placement opportunity for gold sellers to purchase further advertisement rights on Sythe. Why would you push small sellers further and further away by allowing stickies to be sold? Sure you might say "oh but this is here to help small gold sellers ike myself", but that just isn't going to be the case. Who's to say those stickies won't ever be sold to a large gold seller, and again that is all subjective.

Your suggestion is flawed.

 

Read the part about me saying merge the current stickies into one overall subsection sticky, this would make it much more feasible to read and not be retardedly long with a block of stickys .


As far as @ asapgang, I didnt put myself on the same ground as "bogla" I put myself in the top tier of sellers, I do get 250-300 chats a day >.>.

 

No support, would only make it harder and harder for people new to market to expand, not everyone has $20 - $100 laying around and even if this were to get added onto the site i'm sure it would be some sort of bidding war to get the one of the stickies you want in the section you're looking to buy it in regardless.

I built what I have FROM $100, if people cant spend $20-$50 on a sythe sticky to grow ur bussiness, you need to get off sythe.

Also, there are more reasons as to why this suggestion just isn't feasible. Richard isn't just a money hungry tasmanian devil jumping at any chance o opportunity to adopt a further $20 per sticky.

 

Coming from the guy who had to sell his sig space for money .

I have 1/3-1/2 of the traffic bogla gold does, he averages 700-1.1k chats a day.

Fortunately as you pointed out,sythe is a free MARKET so I dont care if you cant stand me.

Who said this was about Richard making money? This is a proposed suggestion to help people who cant drop $3k on a banner.

Let's say this system gets implemented.

What's to stop a huge gold trader from buying all the stickies for that $50 price point?

Or, say he gets declined because a smaller seller asked about it first. The trader simply offers $70, $80, or whatever other price the smaller sellers can't afford. Richard isn't taking less money over more money just for the sake of helping smaller gold sellers.

In a market where being on the frontpage is everything (many business auto-bump after 8 hours, a lot of noobs just finding Sythe through googling will go with one of the links on the first page), the stickies would be worth much more than $50.

Also agree @asap, the way you type makes you sound really childish and cryptic, and shooting down anyone who disagrees certainly isn't helping your case.
