First off, that's entirely relative. In the academic community his work is/was well known. He was also a child prodigy, which historically has garnered a lot of attention. Especially when one attends Harvard, a prestigious university, at age 16 (highly unusual for America).

Second, so what if he's known for being a mass murderer and a terrorist. I simply related both of your living styles. You were inferring that just because I compared your living arrangements to his that I was insinuating that you would become a terrorist, which is false.

Let me put it in this perspective, if I compared your living arrangements to that of Bear Grylls would you assume that I expect you to launch a TV show? No. I compared you to Ted because that's what came to mind. He went out to Montana to live in a shed, live off the land, and get away from society. I used one aspect of his life for comparison, not the rest. If someone says you sound like Kurt Cobain, you don't bite their head off because he shot dope and blew his brains out. It was a comparison of living standards, that's it.

You're blowing things way out of proportion. Don't always assume the worst of people.

Also, a year ban seems quite harsh for a comment that was misinterpreted and assumed personal. I know nothing about you. Aside from what you mentioned in said thread, I don't know your political views, mental state, or views on society. Heck, I didn't even know you lived in Australia or that your name was Richard before said thread. I took your situation at the present time and compared it to the situation of another person at one time.

I would've replied to my previous thread, but I have no idea how to do that or if it would even be possible.

 

Sorry for the late response. I don't know your situation, but nobody can overturn a ban made by Sythe, so I'll PM him asking for a response. Thanks for your patience.

My response to you, Sythe: I am sorry for comparing you to Ted Kaczynski. Please excuse my poor social skills which were learned from my baboon parents. I am also sterile so you don't have to worry about my offspring...

 

Such a sardonic response should not result in an unban, especially in this sort of situation >.>. Nevertheless, I'll forward this to Richard again for his final word.

 

I've Pm'd Sythe about this, hopefully we get a response soon. Thank you for being patient.
