this pisses me off

Does anybody feel like Runescape is going right back to how it was less than a year ago? Before you know it we will have trade limits, get random drops. The wild once again will be empty. Dueling, what is dueling? thats what 2012 runescape players will be saying.

Today sees the latest in our series of initiatives to stamp out botting, gold farming and dishonest play in RuneScape.

It’s a sad fact that the vast majority of gold farming activity takes place in the free game, where it is possible to create disposable accounts that can be used to generate in-game money and send it on for illicit real-world trade in defiance of our rules. Today’s measures will reduce the effectiveness of this practice by a factor of 100, to show these people once and for all that ruining your game is not only unacceptable, but also a waste of their time.

From today onwards, newly created free to play accounts will be subject to a number of trade limitations, consisting of:

New free-to-play accounts can only give away gold coins or items, or make a trade with an imbalance in the recipient’s favour, to the value of 25000 coins per 24 hours. This limitation also applies to drop trades.
New free-to-play accounts can make Duel Arena bets with no greater imbalance than 25000 coins per 24 hours.
We have also made a change to Wilderness PvP, where noted items will only appear to the original carrier when dropped upon death; not the killer. This affects all accounts – not just ones subject to the limitations above.
The last thing we want is to make trading difficult for our long-standing and bustling free-to-play community, so existing free-to-play accounts will be unaffected. What’s more, there is no limit to the value of gifts that can be received by a new free-to-play account, so there’s nothing to stop a new player from receiving a helping hand from a high-levelled friend. Needless to say, balanced trades between players are not a problem, either.

The limitations will remain in effect until the affected account purchases membership. Subscribing will remove these restrictions permanently, even if the subscription later ends and is not renewed.

These measures are a decisive next blow in our ongoing battle against botting and gold farming. We are fully committed to stamping out this insidious form of cheating to ensure you the fair game experience that you deserve.

Yeah, a lot of shady people are going to be mad they cant PJ any more but I think its good

 

This update doesn't affect me at all. But I can just see where this is going. Is slowly but surely going back to trade limits and ect. If i cant buy gold then i wont play rs.

 

This won't apply to me, but this definitely sounds like another money maker.

I think this is more an update for more membership payments, not so much something against RWT.

If what you say would actually happen, that we'll go back to trade limits, as in no free-trade whatsoever, even to members, Runescape WILL die. There's only a fraction of the people who will continue playing. You can't give someone a taste of something good then take it away instantly without them getting pissed :l Idk if what I just said makes sense to you guys, makes sense in my mind

Wow, I am shocked.

In my honest opinion - all these little "measures" that Jagex are gradually introducing sound more like money-making strategies to me than an attempt to impact the RWTing that happens ingame.

Think about it. With the bot nuke, Jagex loses over 2/3 of their player base, mostly of which were P2P players. Just look how little people have been playing on members worlds the last few weeks. They are slowly pushing towards eliminating the F2P game and trying to gather as many subscriptions as possible, in order to gain back all the money that they had to lose in order to effectively nuke the bots. Jagex are such greedy F**ks.

 

A fair amount of bots from the nuke were f2p if I'm not mistaken . Free bots = abused more .

 

What did you expect after bot-nuke, honestly. They need new way to make money.

 

The fact that new accounts can lose their trade limit forever from just getting members once isn't bad.

F2P is a demo - the only reason people get so bent out of shape when Jagex starts taking things out is because F2P had too much content already.

I don't know why someone would want to remain F2P for very long, but some people do and it annoys me.

 

Do you guys ever stop bitching about updates? I think after the bot nuke, it's only right that as a company they explore different lanes to make money, and I respect them for doing so.

 

I don't respect them as a company anymore because they're slowly destroying a cash cow. People aren't going to pay for membership just to trade, they will quit and go to a freemium MMO that is 10X better than RS.

 

Rs is too addictive brah.
