I don't understand how Jacmob thinks he can turn a site whose entire userbase visited to bot into a site that is anti-botting and still retain his userbase.

If I wanted to read fan bullshit about runescape I would go to a real fansite. If I wanted info on a part of the game I would go to the wiki. If I wanted to buy/sell gold I would go here. If I want to bot I would go to rsbuddy.

His site filled a specific role and people visited for that role. Now it no longer fulfills that role so no one will visit anymore.

 

See to be honest, Jacmob is a very smart individual.

It makes sense for him to have a job with Jagex, probably making more money than he was before, doing what he obviously loves whilst making money on top with rsbuddy.com as a "fansite". And a lot less hassle.

The whole countdown clock was absolute genius, he obviously knew his decision before he implemented this but knew he could generate the site a lot of views equating to making money through advertising.

Although this doesn't detract from him being an absolute sell out to the botting community, the exact group of people who helped nurture him whilst providing him a platform in order for him to use these skills he had developed.

All I can say is karma, this will come back to get him in the future.

 

His actions aren't doubted to be a good money making strategy. Reading through the thread makes me think that if he could update the bot permenantly(jagex updates rs everyday, meaning that if he can bypass that) He would be making the most money from the situation, many ppl had their trust in him, he makes more p2p scripts and lives his life.

He claims he was. But I heard a JMod Claimed they never hired him. But I cant find proof of it.

Read is assuming some bull about how they'd be recreating bots, then I saw fansite and facepalmed. No RSBuddy, you're done, just stop...its no doubt just another way to gain revenue, such a waste of time now. RSBuddy was good as botting community, I don't see them as anything more..

 

It's funny, he and arbiter did the exact same thing in 2007, without jagex though. they betrayed a whole community to make some dorra.

There is a massive gap in my knowledge of the history of Runescape/Runescape cheating, from about 2005 - 2011 this past June lol. If you could fill me in or direct me to info, I am very curious to ready about it. They do say that history repeats itself..

You seem mad. You do realize that you don't have to play RS, right?

I've never completely understood the point of bots in the first place. The grind is the main part of Runescape, if you don't enjoy it then go play something else. Nobody is forcing you to play.

And before someone says you just want to do high-level PvM, or go Pking: Runescape has poor PvM compared to other games, and even worse PvP. Just get over your addiction to the game and go outside, or play another game where you actually enjoy a majority of the content.

I know these points have been brought up previously but people getting this worked up over this issue is, to quote Jacmob, laughable.

'Selling out a whole community' - Yes, he probably did. However, he built the community and I'm sure most of you would have done the same in his situation and I say GL to him. The countdown was a cocky and selfish move, but the amount of selfish replies to the RSBuddy announcement are even worse. Get over yourselves, as you've said, there's still 2 other bots working.

 

^ First of all, the "grind" you talk about? There's usually only one or two ways to get your stats up with decent experience. That's repetitive grind. Different than what, say, WoW offers. A lot of ways to get up your level, not too much repetitive grinding.

And you claimed he "built the community"? As far as I remember, companies like McDonalds or Wal-mart weren't just instantly popular with customers? The consumers made got them where they are now. Same applies to Rsbuddy. The consumers (script-buyers) got him where he was. Surely if no one paid attention to him at first, he would've failed, correct?

No he doesn't think he's better than everyone. Just better than everyone in the scene, which is true. Why else would we have been the top botting site in a matter of months?
