Dungeoneering Smuggles and How they worked

As some of you may have noticed, dung smuggling/selling was ruined as a by-product of the bot nuking update yesterday. You cannot bank dungeoneering items anymore.

As a result of this, dungeoneering smuggles are pretty much patched/pointless,
and I'm going to explain various patched dungeoneering smuggles.

I also want to thank various bug abusers for glitching together and many productive chatting sessions. They include: Mattcoady, Eugene, Mattcoady, Auzzers, Derek/Dk1st, Jeremy, Justin/Doom_lord700, Yb, Sven, Three_Cb, Quint, Roy, Dayum, Colin and many others.

Method 1 - The Price Checker smuggle.

Patch date - A few days after dungeoneering release.

When dungeoneering came out, you could put up a normal item in your price checker, and since price checked items actually leave your inventory, the game thought you carried no items and thought you were allowed to enter a dungeon and gave you the armour that you recieve at the start of a dungeon.

Method 2 - The rejoin room smuggle
Patch date - Two months after dungeoneering release.

You summoned a beast of burden and had it carry a pack yak pouch and a few winter storage scrolls. Then you hopped to f2p, started and exited a dung and relogged to p2p. At this point you would have a pack yak pouch and scrolls in the rejoin room. You dropped those, started a new dungeon with a friend and exited. Then you picked up the items and rejoined the dungeon, and could use the banking ability of the pack yak.
There was a similar method to this which involved a paft.

Method 3 - The death noclip
Patch date - One month ago

Shortly after release, bug abusers discovered the dungeoneering fake party. It was an extremely powerful bug, capable of dungeon fuses, dungeoneering XP glitch and non-dungeoneering related bugs such as unlocking your tabs and penguin outside. You might remember the most powerful of them all: healing during a stake. When you activate this bug when you are inside a dungeon, it resets your spawn point. Hence, you could die and respawn in the blackness where you can load rooms. If you died with items in a familiar, interfaced when you died and dismissed it, its items would spawn under you and you could pick them up. Because Jagex is retarted, you could teleport from here. This bug was reborned over 9000 times.

Method 4 - The Hoardstalker smuggle

You summoned a hoardstalker inside a dungeon, and you would keep it in the rejoin room. After it had gathered dungeoneering items, you could climb down the ladder, interface, and dismiss it.

Method 5 - The FFA room smuggle

One month after Daemonheim recieved a graphical update, Jagex increased the size of the castle. The result of this was that when you relogged in the FFA room, you spawned on top of the portal. If you had a friend trade you telegrab runes, you could pick up items dropped outside the room, drop them again, walk out of the barrier and enter the FFA room, where you could pick them up. The game could then teleport you into a dungeon, with your items. Unfortunately the FFA room was (it still is) poorly coded, so it almost never started a dungeon. Once you were inside, you could use pack yaks or imp boxes to bank dungeoneering items.

Method 6 - The Theme Room smuggle.

Patch date - Dragon token patch (I cannot recall when this was, but roughly half a year ago).

The dragon token is again one of the most glitched items in the game - it could do a lot more than just this. One property was that when you had a familiar and went in and out of the Dragon token while standing next to an obstacle, it would noclip into that obstacle. This allowed us to noclip it into the room, dismiss the familiar and smuggle law and air runes. Using this, we could then drop items such as imp boxes (Pack yaks were patched at this point) in front of the room barrier and telegrab them into the room. This allowed the leader of the party (The highest f2p combat in the room) to smuggle items into Daemonheim. We could then bank items using imp boxes. This was a very fast method to smuggle lots of keys and bound sagittarian arrows which alched for around 10K each.

    Method 7- The PAFT

Patch date - Yesterday (Imp boxes, not the paft, red.)

A Paft is a bug that allows you to teleport into any instance. As such, it's an extremely powerful bug. It allowed me to teleport into a dungeon I'd open on another account (or paft into a random dungeon in world 117) so I could smuggle out items with (again) imp boxes. This was by far one of the best smuggles save for the theme rooms.

I'll add some pictures and other smuggles that I might have forgotten about.

I hope that you enjoyed reading this, and you may ask any questions you may have.

What theme rooms are you referring to?

Also, consider adding the one where you had to stand in the waiting room with a familiar while it collected resources? That one was found quite early (if I remember correctly), and was widely leaked.

Good one, I will add that.

Theme rooms are the FFA rooms with a theme, such as the one I'm standing in in that screenshot.

You are correct. Unless you have a yak and withdraw it as a note.

So what exactly is the point of smuggling then if it'll just vanish once you've removed it from your bank..?

I'll still keep & be proud of my collection anyway.

Also, have you tried imp boxes for banking? Or can those not bank noted items?

It's what bug abusers look to do on RS. Some people find fun on RS by pking, others by staking, and other's by showing how Jagex has fucked up in numerous ways.

Great post, was fun reading all the ways to smuggle items out/the flaws in Jagex's system. I'm still completely in shock by the PAFT and the fact that Jagex didn't even know about it.

Great thread, man. Will give a LOT of people an insight into bug abuse, and how things were accomplished.

    Absolutely fascinating.

Thanks for putting this together, it's nice to see the amount of effort you put into finding these bugs.

    There are probably loads.
    Personally, I know 1 way that's unpatched.
Most CFT's are capable of smuggling dung items with a few extra steps.

    But there's no point anymore.
