Not really.

There has always been botting on RS.

 

They claim this to be the case, but I seriously doubt they will.

 

I think Jagex took things a little far to claim that this day will go down in history, and having all these celebratory events during the week to mark this landmark event.

They are going to look like complete dumbasses if this thing flops and bots are back during the week.. HAHA.

Also hope this works out for Jagex - IMO the less botters the better; firstly to save the game's economy which is frankly awful at the moment, and also to drag up the value of gp so I can earn more from merchanting!!

I have to believe that the paid employees of jagex can outwrite the bot programmers. They lose money at first (not getting as many bot subscriptions). However, I believe this will be best for long term growth, especially if RS does go to consoles. This would make RS more accessible to players who do not always have computer access. My thoughts are that a big partnership update is coming for Jagex to change their business strategy like this.

 

I doubt it will, but I really hope it happens. I will survive and make more money.

There will always be botters, even if the bots are at a high risk of ban. I believe with good java scripters, Jagex can remove the reflection, injection bull crap and force botters to be corrupted, Although Auth Code companys can easly re create a un detectable scripted add on into firefox. So that said, People can and will x-fer all there gold to a legit main, still causing the econ to drop at a slower rate then normal.

 

I will play, quest mainly, merchant/flip too. I wish I bought 99 prayer though :/

 

The reason why they say Tuesday and not now is because look at the updates following it.

To celebrate it, they're going to be adding a ton of "celebrations" people may call it, which all require membership.
It's just to gain a bit more money. If they did it today, I'm pretty sure people wouldn't apply memberships on their chars.
They say that familiarsation (sp) and penguins will be reset the day of, and even give a bonus. This will give an incentive to people beforehand to apply membership, do familiarsation and penguins, and do it again that week for extra to "celebrate".

Nevertheless, coming from a botter, I really hope Jagex succeeds with this.

Majority of RS players are botters, the economy of runescape doesn't run runescape, real life money does.

Very good post. That's happening with Gold price everywhere, but we strongly feel it in Lithuania's RuneScape market where Gold price is very very low.

If even moderators are creating threads and saying ''stop making them so low'', but they cannot do anything about it, it is because of bots popularity.
