Question about jagex

How come, (unlike blizzard) as well as other major gaming companies, jagex has not developed anyway to reimburse their players for things like; hacked items, (gasst's rotting your 300m pumpkins), and just overall punishing players for uncontrollable occurrences?

 

Because Jagex doesn't care.

I'm guessing they want players to be more responsible for their own stuff.

 

People would find ways to pull off elaborate scams, they would have to hire new members, and yes, they don't care.

 

I think Jagex simply does not care.

I have always thought it must be so easy for Jagex to just spawn items, and therefore would be able to reimburse players for unfortunate situations like that. I know their policy is not to do this because then everybody would be 'claiming' to have lost items or been hacked, but don't you think Jagex would be able to keep records of stuff like this??

If you lose something due to your own stupidity, thats your own fault. The people I feel REALLY bad for are the ones who fall victim to glitches in the game that should not have existed (dueling glitches, the falador massacre POH glitch etc.) and lose MILLIONS if not BILLIONS worth of valuable items, aswell as occurences like when Jagex resets the server back a few minutes (has happened on rare occasions). Imagine being at corp and getting a divine or elysian sigil drop, and then the server is reset to 5 minutes prior and you lose all those millions, all due to some error on Jagex's part that is out of your own control? I have major sympathy for those people.

People who get hacked are sort of in a grey area in my mind... Getting hacked must absolutely suck, and losing all your shit. But tbh, its not that hard to protect yourself from being hacked. I have NEVER been hacked before because I am safe and smart and I keep my computer clean. It is absolutely RIDICULOUS how many people get hacked nowadays, I literally have atleast a small handful of friends every month who mysteriously get 'hacked' and lose all their shit. I don't have as much sympathy for these people as they are most likely just stupid and don't have a very secure account, have been clicking and downloading random things on the internet, don't run virus and malware scans very often, or gave out their password somehow. So I'm a little skeptical about the whole 'hacking' thing... Some of these people deserve to lose their items just so they can learn a lesson and be smarter and safer from then on.

 

Will your rotted pumpkin make you quit? No it'll make you buy membership/make accounts to bot on to make the money back. Jagex gains revenue. They don't give a shit they just want money.

 

It would mean bringing more items into the economy and would require more work / resources on their part. Will never happen, too many people would take advantage.

 

JaGex simply doesnt care

All they care about now is money. Thats why when you get banned you can buy your accounts back. They try to make the game better, more members quests so people buy membership and they make money.

On the other hand, people could take advantage. Saying "Someone scammed me a party hat set" when they could be RWT, some people just take advantage.

If you lose something, if you get lured, if you get hacked, its your own fault. Its simply how runescape is played.

 

I'm not sure it's that they don't care.. it's just that they care about the wrong things.

Heres how Jagex looks at the situation: Well, the player has lost what they've worked for thus far.. Now they get to spend more time playing to get it again! It would be a good idea for them to introduce an Authentication type system, such as WoW to secure things like this.

 

Actually Jagex have made this game EXTREMELY noob friendly over the years. Massive measure have been taken in anti luring (wildy wall) and anti scamming (many trade screen and dueling updates). Not to mention all the "are you sure you want to eat your egg" and the vast amount of "make all" options and such for skilling, home teleports, GRAVESTONES etc.

To actually go above and beyond that and basically investigate hundreds of thousands of hackings and fake hackings would require them to hire many more staff and they probably can't even keep track of a lot of the data to be able to be able to make the right decision in most cases.

 

I don't jagex has enough resources.

 

Well, all's im sayin in; there's a reason 99% of the game players refer to them lovingly as Fagex. No hate-speech intended at all lol
