Why do you bot?

Hello fellow Sythers

Today I was reading the latest news on the runescape homepage,
and I came across their 'Update on our ongoing battle against bots'.

When I read things like:

'There are several other initiatives and actions that we plan to implement over the next few months and we will share these with you as often and in much detail as we can'

and:

'we recognise that we have not been the best at communicating what we are doing and that changes today.'

I tought something along the lines of 'heard it all before' and 'to little, to late.'

Now I personally think the game is ruined and will die the following years.
Altho I bot myself, and that made me think about WHY I'm botting.
Since we're all member of an Runescape cheating forum,
we are all interested in playing this game in an unfair way.
So my question to you is:

WHY DO YOU BOT?

Because I'm certain there are other people out there that think botting really destroys the game.

For me personally, it is that I've grown out of it. I started playing when I was 13 and I'm now 20.
I'm going to college now(if that is the correct term) and I don't have time to grind my levels to 99, just because I want 30 minutes a week pleasure from pking.
Botting gives me the possibility to not waste my time on hours of clicking on npcs and continue with my life, but still enjoy it once in a while.

 

Need to get good grades at school.
3 things you can do:
- game
- enough sleep
- school
- social life

I can do them all since I don't need to grind for 5 hours.

 

Because I cant be fucked to train legit.

 

Well, i just dont bother spending my time on all those skills anymore.
I cannot enjoy Runescape anylonger having newbie stats, as Runescape is about having highly stats and total levels.

And yeah, im also botting to try out new things to see if its possible, i.e. maxing total with 100% botting.

 

You should have added an "I don't bot section" =( That's where I would fall into

 

You know - you don't HAVE to grind. You can, so to speak, turn off your computer

If I may ask a question to the players that voted that they do not have time/fed up with jagex, why don't you quit the game?

 

Add a section for people who bot just purely for the money. That's where I'd fall.

And maybe testing my own programming skills.

 

I do it because everyone else does it.

 

I bot because I have already legitly played to the end game and I am just getting back there again, but this time with my cousin. We are going to duo GWD when we get everything up to par.

 

because it allows me to make money much faster and to level multiple accounts at once.

 

For me it's because I like having an account with good skills as well as not having enough time to play legit anymore due to college.

 

Yea, you should probably add an option, "I bot for $$"

 

I bot to earn some more irl money.

 

Looking to add 'I bot for real life money' and ' I don't bot' options to the poll, but I can't find a way to edit it. Anyone knows how?

To people that bot for real life money: Isn't it easier to just earn money with a rl job? I mean, mills are dirt cheap right now, doesn't the time that gets into it, the costs of electricity, hardware, bots,.. far outweigh the money you make with it?

 

I don't have time to play because i have to study

 

Dont feel like spending 100's if not 1000s of hours leveling up legit.

I fall under #2 option, Studying was so 2 years ago

 

I've started botting for a number of reasons. I am in college and have to keep up with my homework and my studying, and don't have as much time to play as I did before. I also bot for personal gain and in an attempt to gain wealth (everybody is so damn rich these days, I might as well be too ). Lastly, I voted that "Jagex has made the game so that it can only be enjoyed by max players", which I feel is completely true.

I came back to RS in June and all I wanted to do was PK, but after 5 years away from RS I noticed that the game and the wilderness have changed immensely. I have spent the like 3 1/2 months playing every single day grinding and training my character so that he would have all the necessary levels, quests, and items needed to be able to PK effectively at his CB level. And I am STILL not finished (probably another months worth of work left, mainly questing at this point). Its a bit ridiculous! I think giving in to botting was inevitable

 

I was interested by the technology.
Now I write my own scripts.
