Pardon of the Highest Kind (Subtitle: Finn really is an asset)

Where to begin? I'm posting this because I feel I should own up to my actions. Don't worry, KerokeroCola is not admitting to scamming. I'm admitting to something that I consider to be worse than scamming, if that is even possible. My behavior to our site's main administrator, Finn, has been shaky at best; at times, it has been downright rude and inappropriate.

I realize in advance that this thread is going to be focused on one particular staff member and should thus belong in the sticky. However, to paraphrase SuF's eloquence: I'm a rebel, so I don't care. ;) Also, I considered writing this as a PM but I figured that would do not much good. I've gone to measures to attack Finn publicly, and I want to apologize publicly as well.

The specific details of what I have been saying need not be discussed in a large amount of detail. Let's just say I don't like some aspects of Finn's view on the world; I then let these unimportant differences get the better of me; and I went through a period where I spoke out against him at any opportunity. Why did I do these things? Well, for starters I have a tendency to be hot-headed when I feel something has been handled poorly. But Finn was on my shit list even more so because I had a feeling he was trying to personally attack me as well. This was probably absurd and childish of me to think in the first place. It was because of an off-hand comment that was made a long time ago in MSN. Whether or not he meant harm by his statement, though, the important thing is that I was wrong by returning the fight--and triply wrong by returning it publicly on Sythe.

So, why the change of heart? Recently, Finn posted about having issues with university and money. For some reason, this post made me empathize with him in a way I obviously never have done before. I recently paid $6000 to my university for the first time--I forfeited my financial aid when I switched to an online university--and I suddenly had the ability to put myself in Finn's shoes. I developed the ability to look at him as if he was just like basically anyone else and realize that he really is not so egregiously different. Giving his perspective a fair view for once, I can see that Finn's not a bad guy at all. In fact, Finn is a helluva asset to Sythe. It would definitely not be the same without him.

How would Sythe be different without such a leader? Well, let's go to powerbot.org powerban.org and see how the other major RS Black Market operates. Corruption leaks out of its pores, scamming is probably more rampant there, organization is terrible, and there's a big spam problem. My major complaint with Finn has been that he takes things into his own hands too much (I prefer a much more passive role of leaders); however, given the state of this community, I'd say his hands are a pretty damn good place to put them. The proof of Finn's great capability is, as they say, in the pudding.

So, this thread is in Feedback because I'm discussing not really my own faults but mainly Finn's assets. I've been an ass to him over the past few months, but I've grown up and I plan on stopping. Even if I disagree with Finn's decisions from time to time, I shouldn't be able to criticize because it's highly doubtful I could do such an apt job myself. Taking all things into account, Finn is almost certainly the biggest asset to Sythe.org that it probably has ever seen.

To those of you who might suspect selfish intent of me posting this, I'd just like to politely say you are wrong. If I gain nothing from this, I at least gain back some dignity and have gained maturity from coming forward with my childishness.

Well said Kero, I could relate to you(for the most part) & agree with you.
Finn is an asset, might not think so at first, but over time you(community) will realize it.

Very heartfelt and honest, respect. Although we may not agree with Finn (or other staff members) on all aspects, we must give credit to them for dedicating their time to keep Sythe successful and legit.

Very forthcoming apology. A person who realizes his faults and mistakes and makes every effort to correct them says a lot of about his character. This apology has caused me, and I'm sure many others will agree, to respect you that much more.

I was surprised at how much I wanted to write this rather than just forcing myself to. Although I am often slow to realize them, I like to admit to and grow from my faults when I finally do recognize them.

Also, I know that a lot of people feel/felt the same about Finn as I did. His actions are controversial to say the least. I hope that everybody else can realize his strengths and focus less on the small handful of weaknesses, and this disunity and bickering can end.

People think to much, and feel to little. Balance the two out, and you get someone who realizes his wrongs and feels enough about it to publicly apologize.

    Well done.

Do not fear Kerokero, everyone secretly despises a few staff members for their high horsing-ness, its important that you do not come forth about such things though as it leads to corrupt bans whith the staff being in the others favour.

However i may be wrong, after making this post you became a market mod...

Kero, amazing post. I actually felt the same way about Finn, not liking him that is, until he made the thread about university. I had disliked Finn's opinions on Islam and how he reacted when I disagreed with him, but when he made the thread I was able to look past the disagreements to see that he was an actual person who needed help. Since then, I've come to appreciate his posts much more and I even realized that the way I tried to argue with him was very childish. Finn does so much for this site, I really find it amazing.

No user would be banned for posting honest, constructive criticism, and if you want to see a change in a particular staff member, it helps to speak up about it. Most of the feedback staff gets is either positive or neutral - we can't know what members secretly think a staff member is doing wrong if everyone publicly praises them for doing great; it only contributes to the problem.

I honestly recommend you dont waste your time on Deathsnova, he has his own narrow arrogant view on everything fuelled by his shrewd denial from a position on the team after begging for mod.

Your honesty was nice Kero. The current staff team, while going through a rough patch or two over the last few, has really gone above and beyond with their maturity and honesty. Let us put aside our differences and see things objectively, as Kero has done, and reach towards a stronger and more honest community.

    This is a great post.
Honesty is something that's hard to come by on forums, but it's nice that there is some on Sythe.

Without chemistry between each other, the staff cannot hope to achieve a properly run forum.
    Cohesion is key!

Thanks for saying that, Finn. I'm glad that you took the time to read it. Hopefully we can move on from here in the right direction instead of what I had us doing beforehand.

This, exactly and 100%. I didn't realize how much damage my "smear campaign" had on Sythe, otherwise I would have never don eit.

Thanks. Like I said in the post, my venue for attacking Finn was a public venue. I feel it would have been inappropriate if I did not apologize and state my wrongness in public as well.
