Luring should NOT be allowed on sythe

The old excuse for luring to be allowed on sythe was that Jagex allowed it. However, after doing a little research today (seen here http://sythe.org/showpost.php?p=9655546&postcount=11) I found that Jagex does NOT allow luring after an ammendment to the rules on March 29th 2009 (found here http://services.runescape.com/m=news/rule-2-update).

Now that the old excuse for allowing luring is gone, what is the new defense for allowing luring to continue? It is stated in the article, luring is scamming, plain and simple.

I think it should be forbidden, but you could talk about it and no bans would be given for it.

The same as now it is with pin sales.

 

The new defense is probably that everything else Runescape on this site is pretty much breaking the rules, too. e.g. RWTing, botting services, etc.

No, it should be allowed. Someone dump enough to walk into level 38 wilderness while holding his bank doesn't deserve it.

 

Luring I love it but should be forbidden either way, its not fair at all to anyone.

This has been denied many times before, I don't believe the main reasoning behind this was because it was acceptable by jagex.

I agree with this. I think all past lurers should be pardoned but from now on we should not encourage it.

I don't like scamming no matter where it's done. Luring is just plain wrong.

But it's scamming. Someone dumb enough to fall for PP charge back, someone who is dumb enough to fall for an impostor, and someone dumb enough to go first to a non trusted person did not deserve to be scammed! i have always frown upon luring it is tricking people out of there items which can also be used as a brief description for scamming...

If this site was made to follow Jagex rules, the market wouldn't exist, and this site most likely wouldn't exist either.

No Support. Luring is completely different from scamming. You can't compare someone walking into the wilderness and you killing them for there shit to saying your going to pay someone $500 for their phat.

 

Luring is not scamming. There is a difference. Luring is Deceiving, not scamming. Luring is just deceiving people to join in on a rs activity they are not prepared to do. Scamming is stealing. It is not illegal to pk in runescape, and the wilderness is used for pking, no matter how you get into the wilderness, if you are there you have the right to be killed, whether you have 1000m on you or a rune plate. There is a difference between the two, whether you want to accept it or not. You are not being scammed, just merely deceived, turning your pixel hunger into your doom. Fairly simple concept, but not scamming.

 

Obviously luring isn't very nice, but the mentality of it is different.

Luring someone into a dangerous area:
- intentions to kill the player FAIRLY and take their items.
- The player is extremely stupid and it's their fault.
- The player has many ways to counter a lure, easiest one being NOT following randoms into wild / clan wars.
- When someone is luring you, they aren't thinking oh I'm going to "Scam" this guy and take all of his shit. They think, i'm going to kill this guy hopefully and get some of his items.
- It's the persons fault for going into a dangerous area with so many expensive items.

Scamming:
- intentions to steal big amounts unfairly
- Absolutely no skill involved other than the social aspects
- The victim has no way of getting out of the situation after the scam has begun. (While on the other hand, when they start attacking you in a lure, you can run / teleport / attack back / eat and pray)

You should always do some research on the game and where the dangerous areas are before you start walking around following people with mills - bills on you.
