I agree with this can we make it a little more fun in there again? and not lock every thread which seems boring or conflicts with staff views/ interests because some of us like messing around with them.

Also Giverny great job being involved in the community lately and helping out members with their problems.

Determinate - Just helped me with a situation regarding my thread, once we got to the root cause instead of just labbeling me as a spammer/troll he helped me work out my issues, thanks!

Farcast - I'd really like to thank you for helping me with my ban/pardon. You were very mature and understanding. Thank you.

 

He posted somewhere (like a month ago so may not be accurate) that he has MMed like once in 5 months..

 

It deeply saddens me to see such esteemed members of our community admit to scamming. My biggest problem with the whole ordeal is that I feel as if they waited until they were in such well respected positions within the community before asking for a pardon.

I feel as if they are trying to use their good standing as leverage against a banning. During my time, I've seen many well respected people come out for scamming, and those who had advanced to such a respected position within the community (staff) are on occasion pardoned. Again, my biggest problem with this is that it is possible that they may have waited until they believed that they were clear from any long term repercussions by waiting to request a pardon. For example, if the two members I am speaking of had requested a pardon at the time of their transgression, I have no doubt that they would be permanently banned with no ability to return. However, they obviously have been upstanding members of the community so I can see why such special treatment may be given.

Granted, I hope they are both allowed to return to the community, but I do believe that a portion of their status should be stripped all things considered. Granted, this thread is not for ban discussion but I just felt compelled to post about this issue.

I respect the staff's decision on these issues as I can only hope that the outcome will be the best for the site. To all other mods, you are doing a great job. Thanks.

On another note, I fully agree with rsaccounttrader, their original pardons should be viewable on sythe. Thanks.

Mainly unimpressed with how incomplete the background checks were on the users accepted as Sythe moderators. Two were banned for scamming, something that should have been caught during the process prior to their promotion. One was banned for possible? ban evading. Another piece of information that should have been noticed prior to the promotion. One staff banned for an OMM failure (which I will discuss shortly) and another staff banned for mindbogglingly pitiful ability to pay back FireZ.

Come on team? Where is the unity? The leadership? I am extremely worried for the future of Sythe at this time and part of the reason is because the leadership (other than the administrators) has been extremely suspect as of late. Can we please see some consistency within the moderator ranks? Is that too much to ask?

Also, if you are going to ban the one user who does 80% of the activity in the RaS section other than FireZ, please step up and take on his load.

Can someone please explain to me why the OMM lately are making so many trading mistakes. BILLIONS of gold and THOUSANDS of dollars have been lost due to OMM MISTAKES! Can someone please explain to me why a certain OMM who was banned today did not have his OMM rank removed for his prior mistakes? These users are trusted in my books, but they LACK the basic trading knowledge REQUIRED to be an OMM. Yes I understand impostors can be tricky, and yes I understand that there are deceitful people in this world. But SERIOUSLY, I've done thousands of trades and never once have I fallen for an impostor and had another user scammed as a report of my mistake. How hard is it to do this:

Message box: copy/paste of the chat.

This format is incredibly easy to follow. The fact that several OMM's have had such difficulties accomplishing this is shocking and quite frankly, scary.

I'd like to request for an entire recheck of all current OMM and a deranking of all OMM's deemed not to have fit INDIVIDUAL trading experience. Yes I understand that these users are trusted, and yes I probably would have no problem going first to most of them. But trust is irrelevant if the market skills needed are not possessed. These skills are gained during individual trading. Simply look at Video or Hahanerd as an example of what I consider to be a perfect OMM. Two incredibly trusted users with immense individual market experience other than just middlemanning. Please, before any more mistakes, rework this system. Its already in a bad state as far as I'm concerned considering the recent amount of mistakes and the recent banning of the HEAD OMM for SCAMMING???

As far as I'm concerned, Finn is the only one who has the power to adjust and respond to both of these problems considering his stance within the community. I consider him to be a very adept leader and can only hope that he, along with the rest of admins, moderators, and official middlemen, can respond appropriately.

This whole situation atm with half of the moderators being banned and 3 omms banned within a few month radius. I think the administrators need to start looking close into who they are ranking and anything prior that would set off a red flag to them.

 

Well said Viou. I think the administrators should congregate about the situation at hand. In the past week, it's been raining hail on the moderating team. It seems rather ironic that the recent promotions, designed to rejuvenate moderating activity has all been counterbalanced by unearthed issues of the past, and stumbles of the present system.

Hopefully this will be the last turning point.

 

The only way to reverse this trend is by running the site well.





Sythe is not a very well oiled machine right now. Many parts are breaking. Please put it back together.

I'm curious to see if this can be cross-referenced with other Runescape websites, though. Runescape itself is falling apart, not just Sythe.

 

Free trade hype was high to begin with and will only go down over time no matter what. I also expect Finn o have some directions for the staff/OMM soon as well.

 

Shocked to see louis fall for the same trick and plznate banned; I thought the turmoil was through. Hopefully there is some major OMM reform and mod background check reform. I think a format for PMs, like the one Viou templated, should be made a requirement.

I also have some background check ideas I can detail to a global or admin in private.
