Not advertising as i find this site far inferior then sythe.org, but MMOexchange.com has this style of ID verification, they step it up in levels.

level 1 : $10 , they get the information from your paypal.
    level 2 : $20 , this is a mobile/home phone verification
Level 3 :$20 ?, requires photo ID confirming address.

I would have no problem supplying my ID to sythe if needed, but what about all the children under 16 on this site that dont have photo ID ? Does that mean they will be looked down apon compared to those that have provided ID ?

I support but the knitty gritty points have to be sorted out in a way that will work best.

That goes back into the whole parental consent thing, which would more than likely end up being a tough subject. HOWEVER. People under the age of 18 aren't "LEGALLY" allowed to even have a paypal account in the first place(unless it's a parental monitored student account), so I don't see why this would be a problem in the first place. Most underage persons use their parents paypal, or they use an unverified one, which when dealing with high volume of transactions, ends up limited, which ends up in the user banned either way(this is because paypal puts a hold on 95% of the transactions[both incoming and outgoing] that were handled within the account. I know this from personal experience[not the underage part, just the limitation/holdings part] as I've had this happen.) I personally don't see how this is an issue in the long run. Underage users who deal in the market normally end up posing some sort of a threat to sythe however you want to look at it.

Identity theft? This is Sythe you are giving the information to.

I personally think that having this would get more people to realize that they are committing a crime when they scam real money. Which I believe most people don't see it as the same as stealing money from a cash register or robbing somebody's house, that could get you in jail. But it's exactly the same thing.

Having provided real, confirmed information, would at the least make the scammers think twice, because Sythe now has more information to report this individual who scams, and more easily fight back chargebacks on Paypal.

Seeing, that you have confirmed information and linked a Paypal account to your Sythe account, which I highly believe would great if Sythe did that...

Seeing that information ( such as name, and emails, verified address) match on both Sythe and your Paypal account.

The more precautions taken, the less the scammers.

I support this thread, and my ideal about linking Paypal accounts to your Sythe account.

    That^
I definitely support this too, I'd rather have a wall of security instead of the fence Sythe is currently haveing.

I made a thread about linking PayPal accounts to Sythe accounts, only if you want to thread through Paypal...you wouldn't have link a Paypal account to your Sythe account. This would only me mandatory for those who ARE trading through PayPal.

However, Firez, I think closed it, not completely certain why yet, to me it seems like a great idea...

They could still use the stolen/fake/scamming paypals to do that.
If they want it 100% secure, they should make us give them both their ID AND paypal WITH the registered name on the ID.
Might be a bit overdone tho..

    Possible way to lessen scammers

I know it won't cut down on ALL the scammers, but surely will eliminate a lot of them...

I know that my idea isn't completely perfect, that's why I didn't want it closed, adding more ideas or suggestions to it, would help this.

Stolen Paypal accounts, if the real owner of that Paypal account had registered their account, there is no way the person who stole it would be able to register it on his account.

Fake Paypal accounts, wouldn't be accepted to register, you would have to be verified?

The ways you would have to register it would not be as easy just typing, it in a box, the way of registering would be left open for suggestion till a secure manner could be found.

So like I said, this would only be required on Sythe if you were trading through Paypal, paying through WU and others wouldn't require you to register anything, due to the fact that chargebacks are mainly with Paypal.

For more detailed information, you could find my thread under suggestions.

I have my school ID/passport, I think those would be good enough for IDs. However, like N4no said, minors can't really have paypal accounts. We use our parents' account (like he also said), so I think for minors, we should have our parents verification with their ID. All the gold stores I used to buy from (Gold4rs, Guy4Game, Mmonice, ect) all required a phone call verification and on large $400+ orders, my dad's ID along with a picture of him, which is the same thing suggested on this thread.

I can't seem to stress this enough. People who can't or won't supply it DO NOT have to. It is essentially a rank you can CHOOSE if you want or not like a donators rank. If I want to donate, I can and if I don't want to; I am not obligated to. This is mainly to help with chargebacks as a quite proof of identity can win many chargebacks as n4no says. Some people are clearly more comfortable than others (such as myself) because they know they have nothing to hide will gladly show enough information to verify who they are.

I think this is a great idea, I would provide info. I think it would be smart also when members give sythe a picture of themself holding up a piece of paper with their sythe name, it should include their paypal address as well. I am glad n4no seems to agree with the idea.

When I buy accounts from people here with loe vouches I require real life info for these reasons and I also verify it. I have never been scammed doing it this way.

Then they don't have to. If such a system was implemented, nobody would be forcing anyone else to use it. It'd be optional, like donations; an extra level of security. Maybe the photo IDs would be deleted after the process? (eg: after a few high-level staff members verify that it does indeed match up with the photo with the user's Sythe name, they would delete both photos and issue the rank).

I like the idea. Most serious traders would gladly do this. Would weed out some of the scammers not all. That being said since I'm underage and I have my own paypal account would say a passport work?

Tbh not a bad idea but I dont think many people would approve I would not do this photo id thing because of high risk of identity theft u know.

The only people who would have a high risk of identity theft would be the people who don't read the topic because they wouldn't have seen the part that said everything can be blocked out except name.
