Don't delete user accounts

I suggest user accounts never be deleted, and users solely be banned instead. I make this suggestion after the recent events transpired because user accounts are often deleted in the heat of the moment and then, on second thought, restored, which is a complicated process. It is much easier to restore an account if it is solely banned (from my experience). Additionally, users browsing the forums will better recognize that it may be safer not to associate with a banned user than with a deleted user.

I'm pretty sure this is already somewhat of a policy that is followed. Finn just got mad and deleted the account in the "heat of the moment" like you stated yourself.

I haven't heard of any other accounts being deleted for breaking rules.

 

There is hardly any difference between banning and deleting, as both restricts site access. So yeah, support.

 

This. Also I agree that they shouldent be deleted as its easyer to unban a banned user.

 

I agree completely, the result for the banned/deleted user is the same, but banning would make things easier in case the user is ever allowed back.

 

The circumstances under which we delete accounts are always exceptional and never taken lightly. Saying that, it's not like it's a regular occurance. We have certain protocol when it comes to punishing people, and if Sythe sees an account deletion as fit punishment then so be it. He's usually the only administrator that deletes accounts.
