I've been browsing these forums for a few weeks, and I finally decided to register :)

I am not here to scam :p

But I was wondering, whats the point in asking 'are you here to scam' when you register?

Even if you were...you wouldn't excactly say yes would u lol

Are you on sythe to scam?

Maybe the title is misleading. The point of this thread is, to the makers of the site, whats the point of having the question there?

Just banned. If they try to file anything legal against us, they can't. They broke a contract.
Nope, was there when I joined. It doesn't let you register.

But in response to your question:

They get permanently banned, and their IP is logged so that if they ever try to come back on a different account they can be banned again.

It's honestly just some petty legal defense thing, however it'd be waived in court instantly.

It's similar to all the tou on... everything, facebook, runescape etc.

Are you on sythe to scam?

i agree. there is no point of the question. because your right....who the fuck is gonna say yes?

i also agree that it is sketchy tbh.

nothing happens to people who break it. Lets get real...people scam left and right on a daily basis..... how often do you see any legal action taken? especially by sythe...? never..

tbh, it really is an incredibly pointless question IMO.

I am guessing they keep it their as some measure to satisfy technicalities even though i think its implementation remains unjustified and its point nonexistent.

How can someone file a court case against the website if another member scams them?

im sure when you sign the agreement when you make a sythe acc that you probably agree that sythe cannot be held responsible for any scams that go on within the site.

though contrary to the above belief, legally, minors cannot be held to binding contracts.

Although you may or may not be able to take action against the site.... legal action CAN be taken against individuals who scam... Especially people who chargeback on paypal or take your paypal and dont give you the items you purchased. Chargeback fraud/Paypal fraud is fraud. Serious consequences can come from fraud.... huge fine and jail time are a very realistic possibility.

Sadly no one here takes any action which COULD technically be taken

Maybe most of the users don't know where to begin, when they are scammed. Some guides would help. Also Isn't virtual items trading against the law anyway

There is no such law prohibiting the sale and purchase of virtual items, infact, games like Entropia Universe and Second Life thrive on it; I am not so steadfast about China though, I hear that recently laws have been passed pertaining to this issue.

The sale or purchase of these virtual goods however is sometimes, and usually against the game producers UE and/or TOS. You can argue it much more deeply, taking advantage of ambiguously worded phrases to form a case, however it is NOT illegal.

Are you on sythe to scam?

    To answer your question:

If Bob scams Alice on sythe.org, then normally the only legal remedy available is is for Alice to sue Bob. However, if the scam is serious, sythe.org itself might also want to sue Bob, for, among other things, loss of reputation and good will.

Normally we would not be party to the action. But if we can show that Bob signed an explicit contract with us promising not to scam, then we are automatically able to sue alongside Alice and take all Bob's money.

If Sythe.org is able to show that proof in court, then why doesn't the victim sue? That way the scammers money can be taken?

Is it too much hassle? Etc.
