Requesting Bans

Why call it banned?
I personally agree, but it would be much easier to call it "locked" and have "locking" of accounts for requests only. The effects are equal, but a "locked" account has nothing to do with punishment, it just lets people know not to trade with this account etc.

 

That would be just fine too, however in the Do not Suggest thread, it said "Showing ban reason for banned members*"

I don't see how it would be easier, it would basically take the same effort to implement and have the same effect

 

The difference would be that "banned" is annotated on here to scamming, and that wouldn't be the case.

 

I feel adding "requested" to "banned" would get rid of that negative connotation. Both would work just fine, although locked also sounds negative, at least in my mind, since in runescape your account gets locked if it's hacked or recovered.

But yes, either would work, I just prefer requested ban (requested lock instead of locked would be good too). As long as something along these lines gets implemented, it doesn't really matter what it's called

Nah, it wouldn't kill it, it would just stop all the annoying "Why is ___ banned?" posts, which I find rather annoying.

The bans would have a set duration on them, so one would automatically be unbanned after the amount of days requested.


I just thought of another loop hole in the current system-
One starts a trade, pms a mod to get their account banned, and then scams in the trade. Then the person who got scammed would not fill out a scam report as he/she would think that the scammer has already been banned for scamming.

If "requested ban" existed, then this loop hole would not be possible.

I like this idea. Will keep people thinking that people who requested bans scammed.I also like the idea your said a few posts above that it has a set duration.I also have a question if someone came back earlier than they had expected could they get the requested ban repelled?

 

^Of course! They would have to contact a mod on msn/file a dispute first to prove it is them first.

 

Support 100% would also lighten the load on the where did __ go thread.
