Senior speech.

I am a senior in high school, and I have a Senior Speech I must do. I have had 2 weeks to plan my speech, and I have it all done. The only problem now is that I am nervous. My senior speech includes me dancing and singing, which I have never done in front of a large crowd (talking about 800 people). I have never been posting on this section asking for help, and never thought I would, but this is a problem. If you have any advice please feel free to post. If you are going to spam please go on elsewhere.

Edit: I have tried singing it in my underwear, even nude, at home. I am still shy in front of 800 people. Also I am performing this tomorrow, so all quick advice I would love.

 

i get nervous when i jump out of planes. just say 2 hell with it. its not a natural thing to do, so when you do it you might as well do it right

 

Just act all nervous and unsure of yourself.

Why?

Because your going to be like that anyways; Might aswell have it as a plan.

 

I never thought of having nervousness as a planned out thing. That might work, since nothing else seems to.

You're getting yourself worked up over it, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

You're all organized? You've got the speech? You know what you're doing?
Look at it this way.. what can go wrong?

Have confidence my friend, I'm not shy I could speak in front of 10,000 people. Be organized and I'm sure you'll find success.

Yeah, nothing can really make you not nervous to present this speech in front of all the people. Just rehearse it a lot so you don't mess up and make yourself feel anymore awkward.

 

I use to have a problem performing in public. It gets much easier when you ignore they are there, and sing/dance as if you were alone. Sure, they're still there, but they're easier to ignore when you're not paying attention to them.

Focus on the speech, not the crowd.

 

or you can think yourself as some famous speaker and everyone really wants to hear you speak and perform. think that you are the might, think that your audience is totally captivated by you. Speak and dance with PASSION and everything will go fine!

 

It's natural to feel nervous, the nerves should go as soon as you start.

Also, why are you nervous? What could go wrong?

 

He could mess up his speech, and embarrass himself in front of the crowd.

Another good tip is look beyond the crowd, look towards the back of the room so it looks as if you are making eye-contact with the entire crowd.

That works the best for me because I never notice the crowd using this method.

 

Exactly... That's the worst case scenario. If he messes up all he has to do is say oops and carry on.
