[August 22] Eternity Client - Fastest Client Available

U should combine with Flaming idiot's client quantum kit, you two could create something really awesome.

 

The way his client works is completely different than mine, I use VB.net and Winforms, he uses WPF and C# - Not to mention he doesn't strike me as someone who would like to work with a teammate on something so big.

Anyway I'm going to try and work on a new version this weekend and perhaps a couple hours this week, expect a couple new features within 2 weeks or so.

By looking at the pictures I think there should be some text at the left side where the images are describing what the buttons do, other then that it looks good

What you mean by fastest ? Isn't all clients the same..

Both SwiftKit and EliteSwitch have splash screens and are generally just slower to use (not so much EliteSwitch, but SwiftKit is made in VB6 which is a programming language that hasn't been updated in 13 years). My client starts up right away with no extra junk, just the client itself right off the bat. All the features are very smooth and quick too, which many clients are not capable of having due to all the information that is being processed behind the scenes.

 

That is very true, this is one of the reasons why I stopped using Swiftkit, it was slow as hell.

Also it used Internet Explorer for everything else, which I hated. (It also had its own browser that sucked as well :/)

What internet browser does your client have?

 

Internet Explorer, unfortunately. I'll be changing to Firefox for the in-client browser and the Wiki search for the next version though, and will also ship off an RSC plugin that will use Firefox instead of IE.

Hey blupig, did you say you use MDI forms for this?
If you do, how do you get rid of the 3D'ish look it gives the parent form?

 

What advantages does this have over other clients

 

Much faster, uses up-to-date technology, and has support for endless features (plugin system).

I didn't get rid of it, if you close all child forms then you see it when only the raw parent form is up. There might be some kind of property or paint override you could use to hide it though if you really wanted to.

Nah i looked into it, and the only way to remove it is to make the form borderless and draw the window title...Which is a big pain.
