The servers are shit.

Two people donated $1000 each in the paste like month, surely servers don't cost any where near that much.

 

The question is are we renting or colocating?

Renting servers required for Sythe is like $500+ a month. Colocating hardware is like $70/MO

If we are not yet colocating, I think admins should buy a nice hardware and colocate it. Best in long-term, and Sythe is not going anywhere, is it?

I'm willing to help in anything needed. I work for 3 hosting companies and very active on WebHostingTalk, I know a few companies owners and sales reps.

 

It's generally because there is over a thousand people constantly viewing pages which would probably max the load. Adding onto that, there is all of the little kiddies with their dos scripts that attack sythe.

I'm sorry to hear that, but Sythe/Matthew are both aware of the problems. If you knew the scale of the attacks we're facing, and how well we've managed, I don't think you'd be making these sort of threads.

 

I'm sorry to hear that, and sorry for such a cruel title, but its just constantly getting worse.

Just hope some of the suggestions in this thread go to good use, as a few of them really are quite good.

There's a solution to that, it's called DDoS protection

We have DDOS protection, Sythe pays a very good chunk each month, but again the scale is immense. The whole network, not just our servers, have been taken down in the past. It's not just one script kiddie doing the attacks.

Sythe.org gets attacked DAILY by people DDoS'ing the site trying to take it down.

 

They are very slow and what you are seeing is typical. I wait for like 5+ minutes for a page to load and it sucks. Don't complain though or else you'll get banned + have people give you shit for not donating to make it better. I suppose it's not okay to talk about what you dislike around here.
