"Report a Scammer" automated system

Something needs to be done about the scam reports, so many users obviously don't understand the amount of proof it takes to get someone banned. I'd like to suggest a "report this post for scamming" button like the spam report button above posts that takes users to a form they need to fill with specific requirements for proof (sections for chat pics, usernames, emails, etc.). Doing this would also make the process faster for mods, since everything is organized, just like spam reports.

Please consider this, I've suggested it before and nothing happened. It's going to take Matthew some coding work to do, but in the long run I'm sure it'll make the forums safer.

God, I would love for this to happen. It's such a pain going through scam reports and only 1 in every 5-10 having enough proof to support a ban.

 

Awesome Idea! Are you thinking pre-created boxes, where the user fills in the required info? Much like the forms when creating an account, the report will not be able to be posted without the required information posted?

Totally agree, ive looked through the report scammer section before and there was literally a whole page of reports that didn't have efficient proof to ban.

 

Here Here - It is so hard to get people who shouldn't be on here because of scamming etc Banned. There should be a much easier way like what you have suggested. I am in full support.

 

100% support, would make everyones life easier. 90% of the scam reports just makes me want to rage of their stupidity. Seriously cant ppl read the stickys, or use common sence when filling a scam report.

It clearly doesn't matter if you have enough evidence or not, seeing as I have a thread reporting a scammer who recovers accounts and runs a phishing site where he clearly uses his email on the site. Yet the user is still unharmed. I feel the only way a user can get banned is if you go to their house hold a gun to their head and tell them to fucking admit they did wrong.

 

How about we start giving out infractions/temp bans for people who don't take the time out of their day to read the stickies, and end up wasting the time of mods?

Too many people post "this guy scammed me, ban him!" with no proof, or post chat logs as proof. These people might not have any malicious intentions, but by posting this crap, they're directly wasting the time of Sythe staff. In turn, they're helping the scammers, by distracting staff.

Anyone with me on this one? Scam reports with no proof/chat logs as proof should be punished.

Edit: I do support your post, but what if the original post was deleted by the scammer?

I have having to pretend that I know what the person is talking about in their thread. However, my only worry is that some posters are not as strong as English as those of us who are voting here. They may become confused by the posting criteria or something.
