authenticator

who has a authenticator and actually uses it?

 

I got one after my buddy got hacked. It's not too bad, it's on my phone that I carry around all the time anyways.

 

It only takes like 10 seconds more to sign in since you have to get the number from the authenticator, but it keeps you safe from phishing sites that may try to take your account. It does not give you a free pass to click on whatever link or website that is "associated" with Blizzard, but it is a great security addition.

 

It's a very good thing to have one especially with the amount of phishing emails you get now-a-days. I use it and i wont stop.

 

With the number of disconnects I get, I'd dread having one on. I'd lose around... 5 minutes of game play every time I played.

E: Not to mention it sucks to get kicked from a raid/instance because you dc'd and had to search for your authenticator . A hard enough password prevents being hacked if you're not an idiot ^.^.

 

I do not have the physical authenticator, i have the APP for the iphone, its the same exact thing except it is free

 

I have an app for mine. I find its helpful sometimes.. Other times its hell.

To be honest.. it's just a way for blizzard to make money.. Everytime you get hacked, you can always get your account back if you're the original owner, or as long as you recover the account, just by talking to a GM, you will always get your stuff back, so even if you are hacked it's not such a big deal... Not big enough that you have to pay money to prevent it, when you could just be more cautious when downloading things...

 

Considering the iPhone and Android authenticator apps are free, I'd say it's not much of a money making scheme at all.

 

I have on for the iphone. I got it after I was hacked and all my items were deleted/taken. Though the GM did give it all back I still got one.

 

And if you don't have one of these types of phone I'm pretty sure you have a regular phone. I think they do a text authenticator service also.

So it's them creating new devices to keep your account safe ... not trying to make more money.

 

I was sent one by my Guildmaster from the states because he's wanted to promote me to Co-owner forever but didn't want to til I got an auth, so he just bought and sent me one lmao.
I use it only to remain a Co-owner on the 3rd best guild on our realm, but other than that I'd never use it .

 

Being hacked by the Chinese is never fun.

 

yes i use a auth! i was hacked out of my first account with 2 lvl 80's but now im using a auth and nothing has gone wrong since!

 

I didn't have one when I played. There's no real point.. if you call up blizzard and tell them you were hacked they are able to replace your gear.

 

Well you'd rather get hacked every time and having to wait to get your items back? I think there is a point to having one.

You have to be pretty stupid to get hacked, just use an obscure email and pass, and don't tell your email to anyone but your friends. I haven't been hacked in anything ever, but people seem to keep popping up with all these apparent hackings.

 

Nope, but ive had one put on my account by someone else. Had to jump through hoops for two days with customer support to have it lifted.
