Killing for $$$

This is a question I have asked many of my friends,colleagues and family. I was convinced when I first asked this to others that I knew what they throw back at me and It sickens me that I was wrong about it. It is a simple Yes / No question and I have had many a heated argument trying to convince the opposing answer but to no avail. There is bound to be controvesy between the two opposing answers. There are some plot holes within the question you have to take it as I give.

Question: You are given a button, everytime you press the button you receive a set amount of cash (Let us say $1m). As a consequence of your actions somebody in the world dies , a random death. This death is in direct cause and effect of you pressing the button. The death itself will have no repercussions on you what so ever.

Would you press the button?​

To be completely honest, I would. Money is the evil ruler of this world. It's quite sad, but it's true. Governments are built on the killing of innocent people, and they make millions if not billions of off other's misery.

 

Nope. I would rather work for money and make it on my own merits. Also, the guilt of being responsible for someones death would always haunt me.

To elaborate more, I think even if you had to put a gun to someone's head and watch them die, but you'd get 100% away with it, a lot of people would do it.

 

I believe this idea is from a movie, not too sure though. But no, I wouldn't press the button for a materialistic trade-item.

I would also do this. It really comes down to the kind of person you are, and there is no right or wrong in that sense.

The U.S wasn't built on purchasing the land off of the aboriginals, they came and conquered them, also, the U.S government made millions if not billions of off the war in Iraq. I didn't think it was that hard to comprehend. I didn't mean all governments of course, it was meant to be leaning towards "governmnets are built.." not "all governments"

 

All those who said they would have not given reasons as to why , only you decided if you choose to take ones life.

 

Yes I would press it, in fact, I'd press it fast as possible.

Why? Because you said: "The death itself will have no repercussions on you what so ever." Therefore I would assume that I would have no mental, or physical stress come to me, or anyone I know, or anyone they know, or anyone they know they know, or anything like that, as any of that would cause me some discomfort.

Rationally, there can be no deaths, because somewhere down the line someone is inconvenienced, which could easily lead back to me through Kevin Bacon.

 

I meant in terms of the law really , but in your sense of repercussions would you kill a family member for cash?

 

No, anyone who says yes is greedy to be honest. I would rather die then push the button to kill some one else who has no deserve for it.

The first push would be the hardest. The 2nd and 3rd would still hurt. But the pleasures I'd receive at another's expense would only continue my addiction and greed. My thoughts would remain on beaches, clubs, and good living. The only trouble is being the bearer of my secret.

Definitely not. I believe that some people don't deserve to live (murderers, child molesters, etc.) and I might press the kill button if it was guaranteed to be one of these people, but I would never press this kill button if there was the slightest chance that someone innocent might be killed.

 

So you're willing to play the role of god to those who broke the law by judging if they should live or not?

personally i would never do this. Knowing i would be taking someones life for my own greed would eat away at me..
