Deceiving Our Members With Fake Offers.

Hello Sythe,

This thread is about deceiving the Sythe Community by making up 'Other buyers'.
This recently happened to me, (You know who you are, I will not say names)
I have not found anything about this in the current rules of Sythe.

What exactly happens?
Basically, What happens is that the person selling goods (Person A) and a buyer (Person B).
After Person A received an offer from Person B, He will make up another, To make Person B go higher then he did at first..
With this he is deceiving Person B to squeeze more money out of him.

Person A: Selling goods, Buy my goods now!
Person B: I'll pay you $15 for X amount of goods.
Person A: Sure, Sounds like a deal.
Person A: Oh, Sorry I just had a offer of $17 for X amount of goods.
Person B: I'll have to pay $20 then.
Person A: It's a deal.

What should be done against this ?
I believe a warning should be given at first.
If this happens another time I feel that a ban of a month+TwC ban should be justified.
Let me know your opinion on this.

tl;dr: Anyone deceiving our members should be punished.

This is a mere business strategy, nothing serious. If both users agree to the terms of the trade, I see no problem with it.

 

I agree with Gurtaton... If you dont wanna pay a certain price, dont pay...

 

Not only would this be way to hard to monitor, it's nothing more then a business strategy, yes a shady one but it's nothing serious. If you don't like the price then don't buy

 

If they do that, just call them bluff. they most likely wont sell it and will come back to you.

 

Unless the person has two accounts interacting to facilitate these fake offers, then its deceptive, but not against the rules. Just harsh business strategy.

 

If you're suspicious just offer what you were going to offer originally. They can't sell the product to themselves, so they'll just come back to you in the end

 

Would seem a little too hard to prove given the punishments you suggest.

Don't think it can be implemented.

 

This does suck, and I feel you, but this is part of the market we deal in.

 

it does suck that people do that, but its too difficult to prevent, i sell items/accounts to people who are not members of sythe.org. which means someone from sythe could have offered, me say $190 for a red phat, yet ill get a pm from someone who isnt a member of sythe offering $200.

i actually just sold my lvl 12 account with a fire cape to someone who wasnt a member of sythe, they paid $130. yet highest offer here on sythe was 105 i think.

in the end its just a business stratigy. its all up to the buyer, if the buyer is willing to pay more thats his own problem. the buyer is the person that controls the price that gets paid.

I'm afraid that:

• You can't really detect this sort of action. They'd have to admit it.
• It's all part of the marketing strategy. Car salesman are the most obvious examples.
