Sythe instant messanger

It would be like msn but you have to login with a correct sythe username/pass, that way theres no faking who you are.


Thoughts?

 

Where would the cash and time come from to make this?

 

Hummmm I can probably make one for free but I don't have the time nor the will to work on it

The messenger could work by being on the site. Theres loads of sites that do this?

Its really not hard to download MSN.....
Seems pointless to me to have a specific sythe messenger...

 

Almost everyone on Sythe has Msn. There would be no point of it if you could communicate on that.

 

He means this way there wouldn't be as many imposter emails.

to prevent fakers.

 

The site Spyike has a facebook-like chat system which i assume they got for free. You could ask an admin there how they got it.

 

That'll only be compatible with vB4, or its a custom-script.

 

If Sythe updated Vb, this would be a 10 minute, free, mod.

 

Because upgrading a several-GB database is effortless and has zero chance of failure, right?

 

It's been suggest many times before, including by myself like 2 years ago.

Sythe said updating VB isn't worth it due to custom mods breaking, the risk associated with updating anything (as SMR said) and the minimal reasons to do so.

"Don't fix what isn't broken" is essentially what he's saying, which I agree with. There's plenty of ways to increase your chances of a successful trade, but there's still every chance you will get scammed by ANYONE. Seems like a lot of trouble to go through to bring in a replica of MSN with the added feature of linking their Sythe account to the messenger account. This is no safer then requesting a PM over MSN.

 

I spoke with Scene, a global on Spyike, about it once. He said right off the bat, "And don't even THINK about asking how much it costed!"

I'm assuming that means it's really expensive, because Mark Zuckerberg doesn't want to sell his chat system for cheap.

 

Prune it and pay a company to perform the upgrade. It really would not cost that much compared to the amount of donations that come in. Upgrading would enable so many amazing features to be added, without any work at all.

 

While it would be a nice idea, as others have already pointed out, there is a reason this has been shot down in the past.
