Name change for Something For All section?

I think that a name change would be appropriate for the something for all section off the forums. I think it should be changed because it can be fairly misleading, and could probably cause some confusion with member of the forum. I think that a name such as "Debates" or "Intelligent Discussions" would fit more appropriately. Feel free to post what your feelings are on this subject.

 

Support. Something for all sounds like a forum for people to have small talk about things that aren't really a big deal.

 

Honestly, I think it's fine. It's been SFA for as long as I can remember and it won't make much of a difference if we change it.

 

I like the current name of the section.

 

I'd totally support if it didn't say this at the bottom of the name, "intelligent Conversations. Debate / Argue your Views Intelligently with Other Members". That basically sums up the entire section without even entering it.

 

The name of the forum has become too popular, changing it now would confuse new users, as every current user would still call it SFA.

 

Despite everyone here already saying what I'd like to say, I'll also include that the 'SFA Mod' User rank would then have to be changed.. 'Debates Mod' would look a little silly.

 

There's no such thing as a SFA mod, well at least I've never heard of or seen one.

 

There is, Farcast was one, and when i first visited sythe I remember Dropkick Murphy's having it.

 

Well there isn't one currently, therefore I don't really seeing that being an issue. I also still stand by my opinion that I wrote earlier.

The title is fine as SFA, there are enough stickies in the section to let people know what the purpose of the section is. If anyone thinks its "fairly misleading" I think they're just fairly ignorant.

 

It would still need to be changed retrospectively.

 

Reasons not to change:
1. People know it as SFA.
2. It has the description under it.

Reasons to change it:
1. The name has nothing to do with the topic. It really does sound casual.
2. We've changed a lot of board names even though they all have descriptions - why should this be any different? At this rate we might as well name it 'Gummy Bears' since it has a description underneath anyways.

I personally like the name of the board. It's much more unique than the plain "Intelligent Discussions" or something of the like.

Also, I think the 'Something For All' name means that "theres something for everyone to debate about, whether it be gay marriage, legalization of marijuana, or whatever, theres something everyone can put their 2 cents in about".

I vote for keeping is SFA.
