I don't know why people commit suicide. It's simple, ignore them. The majority of them won't stick to any threats that they make, they're just basically seeking attention to seem like they're hard when in reality they aren't. I'm not sure about the Criminal Offence part.

Some kids just don't know when to stop. You can ignore, but it gets to some people.

Honestly, this might sound harsh, but some people are meant to succeed in life and others aren't. We can't live in a perfect world with marshmallow trees and candy canes falling from the sky. Some people are too soft and need to get used to it or change. Just my opinion.

I completely agree. You don't hear a grown man/woman with a steady income, a family, etc. commit suicide over "cyber bullying". It's a tough world out there, you have to compete for employment, you often have to step on people's fingers to gain the edge over them. If someone commits suicide over "cyber bullying" they most likely would not make it far in the real world anyways.

No it should not be a criminal offense. This gives the 'victim' an oppurtunity to bait 'bullies' thus creating 'criminals' out of their own insecurities. If the 'victim' was contemplating suicide and 'cyberbullying' became legislation, it just gives the person more insentive to go through with it because the bully would be punished accordingly through the law system, and the victim would ultimately get what they wanted.

You think some people are born to fail? What...?

ok, firstly people with a family + income do commit suicide from bullying not necessarily cyber bullying.

secondly why should it be a criminal offense when normal bullying isn't.

thirdly.. bullying in the work place = fired + charges for harassment.. so

bullying/ cyberbullying is technically a criminal offense but under a different name, "harassment"

I hope you're not trying to justify bullying by saying that you don't want to see certain people.

Mostly all people will not succeed in life if they don't take the correct steps to proceed. But, just because certain people may seem hopeless, doesn't give anyone the right to be bullied in the first place.

If you want to see them gone, then let nature(like survival of the fittest) claim the "helpless, too soft, pushover" people when the time calls for it. It's not right for another human to judge that for anyone else.

Cyber bullying has just enough power, maybe more than regular bullying in certain situations, to have someone feel suicidal.

Cyber bullying reaches out to a more large audience, and has the victim to become more noticeable in the real world. It would be quite difficult to show a picture of you naked to a bunch of random people, but it's very easy to post it on a popular website where a large sum of people may be able to view it. Especially when it can be duplicated easily since it's on the internet.

That only applies when you're working at a job. That doesn't apply when you're not at work, unless something occurs like self-inflicting, hurting others, or suicide occurs.

It's the environment people grow up in if it's nice and everyone is getting along someone trolling/cyber bullying will have a huge impact on that persons life.
The weak die off in species, People who commit suicide just aren't fit to raise kids anyway due to them demonstrating they can't handle pressure/stress

Resolution: Cyberbulling should or should not be a criminal offense

Cyber-bullying should be considered a criminal offense because the person who is the bully has the intent to cause harm to another individual emotionally at the very least.
It's disgusting to actually think that someone would go to such extents just to "get" someone back or for no reason at all.
I think there needs to be harsh punishment, under the right circumstances, for such actions when , most of the time, it will be almost always be unnecessary for the bully to do such things.

    I strongly disagree.

At one point in life, everyone is that "weak" person. You learn to grow stronger because of past experiences. Like the saying goes "What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger". I think that people who show signs of suicide need help to make them fit to, one day, have a family, raise kids, and just live life.

We as human beings are entitled to be able to pursue happiness, neglecting others issues takes away there entitlement to pursue such.
Everyone needs help, whether it be emotionally, financially, or physically.

One of the main reasons why cyber-bullying is so effective is because the bully really can't tell or see how that person is feeling, You can't convey emotions through posts, therefor they don't really see a reason to stop they think that just because the person doesn't write or show up on a website for awhile that everything is fine, when in reality, it isn't.

It should not be a criminal offence. In general, people are overly sensitive and getting picked on every now and again can really work wonders. Especially if they know there's nothing they can do about it thus forcing them to sulk in depression until they realize the foolishness of crying over someone else's opinion.

No, I never said they're born that way. They just need to change their mindset and realize this world wont be all fun and games - there are going to be tough things that you have to get through and you can't expect everyone to love you and protect you.

You just contradicted yourself... What is your definition of survival of the fittest? Waiting for a lion to come and eat them? No, survival of the fittest includes social interactions and all other aspects of life. Human vs Human is survival of the fittest. If they're a "helpless, too soft, pushover" then they obviously aren't the fittest.

I agree with your last sentence. But you're trying to justify bullying, and that's wrong. If I'm following you correctly, you're saying that the problem to solving "soft, pushovers, newby" people is to bully them?

The regular/correct way that Human vs. Human should be is something like two people competing for a job opening. If one person does not have the right skills, example: not communicating with the employer correctly, then he/she should probably not deserve the job.

1.)Wait, how do you know this is true? It all really depends on the person, they could just not give a shit and move on, or they could take it seriously and then commit suicide.
2.)I agree with this, if you commit suicide, you are not mentally/psychologically strong enough to control your emotions enough to succeed.

Yes it should be a criminal offence. Cyber bullying is no different from bullying someone in person, a person can still take offense to something no matter where it's said, whether over the internet or in person. If I call a homosexual a faggot in person, it's no different from calling him a faggot over the internet.

    I think it should be.

I don't see why it wouldn't be, just because it's "the internet" doesn't mean you have "rights" to do whatever you want.

No. Anyone that takes cyber bulling to serious shouldn't be allowed on the internet for safety reasons. Most cyber bullying happens because the victim puts him or herself in a situation where they would be most vulnerable.

Everything on the internet that has to do with cyber bullying is preventable.

So I could prosecute you? for giving me the most harshest infraction. Thats pretty much bullying.

OT: (so I don't get another infraction) I think it's a bad idea. Because if anyone actually takes cyber bullying seriously then they shouldn't be on the internet. Meaning they're too young.

It should be a criminal offence....Their is many suicides because of cyber bullying..Once one person cyber bullies someone, more and more bully the same person and the person is defenseless..If your not mature enough to go on the internet and respect others and what they say, only if its not rude, then you should not be able to go on. Cyber-bullying is a serious issue because of many teenagers killing themselves because of it.
