Why doesn't anyone range in RS?

It isn't rare to find someone with 70 attack, 80-90 strength, and 60+ defense yet with only 40 or 50 range. Why doesn't anybody range on their accounts except when they have to? Damage is slightly less but it's quicker to range + no need to run all around. Take $ out of the picture because by then most people have a few mills... more than enough.

Give me a reason why you personally don't range. This isn't a debate, I'm just curious

 

Well, personally i think the range armor is ugly.

Quest also reward Melee skill XP for completion, and not range.

Range DOES cost more money too level than melee, and you take more damage while leveling because of the low Def armor compared too melee.

 

most people don't range because the ammo costs money and it's really ungodly slow xp.

at 95 range I still only get about 40k xp an hour, with 95 str you can get well over 65k str xp an hour.

 

what he says, slowpoke xp rates and very boring... with melee its easier to get diff styles of attacks/specials

 

I just think it's super slow, and I'll only do it to get to 70 to be able to get a fire cape.

Plus I hate having to pick up my arrows.

 

for picking up arrows you have an item who reduces it greatly

 

Personally, I hate range.
I would have never achieved 99 if I hadn't used chinchompas from 74-99.

 

Range gets very boring, very quickly.

 

I agree, looting arrows does get old but idk how you could say ranging is boring, being able to kill a monster or at least half way before it even gets to you can be pretty cool. It looks like slow-ness is the number one reason people don't train it. Interesting.

Well, compared to magic range costs nothing. Magic actually does cost a lot to actually use.

 

Do animal mag, problem solved. Although it is true, it's really, REALLY slow training. Unless of course you chin it, but then it costs a bomb.

 

Yeah that works I guess. Idk I guess I'm weird, I'd rather not have to run all around the screen.

 

Personally, I like range.
But the exp is pretty slow.
And depending where you range you might have to run around to avoide getting hit anyways.

 

i find range a great stat, it does very well in the slayer skill. oh, and if your any decent at ranged, it DOESN'T cost more than melee to train, because you can be smart with an accumulator and broad bolts, which hit damn hard for their 99[?] gp price. range is good, if you know what your doing.

 

Melee has a bunch of overpowered spec weapons, while range is limited to cannon, msb, and dark bow...

Also, a lot of people will bot their melee but not bother to get it done with range.

I like to range, but I must admit that it really is boring and slow. I just hate melee more so I'll keep it up though.

I'm 99 range and personally, it's shit.
In f2p you have to pick up your arrows everytime (fuck you fagex), and in p2p the only real ways is to pest control, soul wars, or chin.
It also has less spec weapons, and isn't accurate on melee so it's useless in pvp for mains, as for pures its useful.

range is only useful in massive clan wars if you dont want to get close to melee, and to be slightly resistant to barrages.

 

Maybe jagex should come out with another ranging weapon. They make new melee weapons 24/7.

 

well i dont range because i can level up most other stats alot faster... i just recently got 70 range so that i could have armour so all of the monsters in GWD wouldnt attack me... i cant believe how people go to 99 range must be torture
