No PM = No Scam Compensation

In hacked MSN cases when the persons MSN can be proved to have been compromised I think this is definitely a good suggestion.

Just make sure it is strict and doesn't allow actual scammers to back door out of a ban.

That I agree with you on. So were talking about hackings. I need to wake up!

As far as that goes then yes the rule isn't completely right. What happens if I go on vacation for a week and someone scams $400 using my msn. I didn't have internet access either so its not possible for me to be the scammer.

I could go with this rule but we have to get an effective way out so everyone, especially new users are aware of this.

No PM = No Scam Compensation

My example is not for an imposter. if they are scammed by an imposter, thats tough luck. However if an MSN of mine were to get hacked without my knowledge, then the hacker scammed someone, I would be held liable. My argument is that unless the person being scammed gets a PM to verify, I should NOT be held liable for something entirely out of my control.

Is this exploit about users pretending to getting scammed by hacked msns to recieve compensation?

Is getting your msn hacked seriously "something entirely out of your control"?

There is a problem with this though. Imagine a "trusted" member of Sythe decides to simulate that their MSN is hacked and knows this rule. They could easily scam and since the other person never asked for a PM they would just scam them, knowing they would not need to refund and that all they needed to say was that they were hacked.

It's something that needs to be well thought before applying because it can bring a lot of problems, instead of solving them.

Lol, absolutely. My MSN is not linked to another email, it has no real personal information of mine, and all info connected to it is bogus, simply so that it cannot be reverted. If someone talented enough is able to hack my MSN while im gone for the weekend, then no way in hell am I paying someone back who didnt have common sense enough to get a PM.

I support this idea, I always request a pm no matter who I am dealing with. If they cant PM me then trades off. Simple as that. I would suggest other users adopt the same policy for their own safety.

I definitely support this, 80% of the time the impostor having scammed the victim will then PM the person the impostor was imposing. From that it just gets confusing and messy = mods having to go through pointless newfag scammer reports.

    I support this wholeheartedly.

If you're dumb enough to trade with someone without asking for a PM, then you're an idiot. But I suppose some people don't know how things work on here and won't ask for one; putting a rule in place will help the noobies to not get scammed.

Support, It's the traders responsibility to request a private message and if they are scammed due to the fact that they did not request one then that's their fault. But I could see people taking advantage of it and scamming people who do request a pm and just claim their msn was hacked.

No PM = No Scam Compensation

Does this apply if your sythe account is hacked but your msn is not? Or how about if your sythe account has unusual activity?

For example if a member only posts in music/general for about 2 years then suddenly they post in market and scams shouldn't that be considered out of character?

What if a member knows who hacked them and they suicide your account and theirs banned with yours are you held responsible? Do you not deserve a market ban and a twc? it shouldn't matter if that member truly got hacked and never has any intentions of using sythe.org market.

Do mods consider this at all?

No PM = No Scam Compensation

I always thought impostor scams had no compensation anyway?

I read through all of the replies, and I still haven't seen any point to necessitate that a PM must be sent. As FireZ said, most scammers get banned before that even becomes relevant.

Perhaps I'm just too ignorant of the "exploit" to see how it would benefit anything...

No PM = No Scam Compensation

Imposter scams don't have compensation; but this discussion is about a HACKED MSN or something of the sort. So you actually are talking to the exact MSN of the person you intend to be dealing with, but it's not actually them.

You should always ask for a PM..this is a pretty touchy rule though. My opinion would be that due to protect seller security this rule is created.

FireZ: you wanted to know how to get it out to everyone? Community General/Announcement, and i'm sure many of the top sellers/service providers would put something on there thread and hopefully be kind enough to help any newer members out.

This should absolutely be a rule. People need to request a PM.

I always request a PM not matter what the trade, unless I am selling something small such as upgrades, then I will PM them if they ask.
I also screen shot every conversation I have had with a user off Sythe.

Really, the traders just shouldn't trade with someone if they are denied a PM, it's there own fault if they fall for it.
