That may seem like alien-like to some people. Discuss?

We won't be abolishing political patries anytime soon, if ever. The reason we have the, is because we believe in other things than another patry. Concerns about issues (abortion, gay marriage, etc.) differ.

So he thinks the different viewpoints will inevitably segregate the country, which is sort of what happened on a small-scale during the Civil War.

In my opinion, we need a society focused on idealism, rather than materialism.

Do you think we'd have another civil war, but Democrats vs. Republicans? The tension between parties isn't anywhere near hatred.

I defiantly think of that as a possibility. Maybe not all-out war, but possibly a little bit of it.

Ha, a world without political parties. Hmm, lets discuss what we will suffer if this was to occur. WWII all over again? No discussions over who will be in control of the country? Insane master minds in total control? Sudan, North Korea, Iran, China, Saudi Arabia, Burma, Zimbabwe, and many more. Perfect examples of countries that are a pile of crap, or screwed up because of their form of government. Political Parties are not needed, but enhance the lives of the countrymen.

Political parties are simply figureheads. Looking at for example the Democrats and Republicans, you will see that although there seem to be many differences, they are very much alike. Many people argue that candidates shouldn't be grouped into either Democrat, Republican or Independent. But if you didn't, then there is absolutely no way that you could obtain sufficient funding for your campaign. Ross Perot, a billionaire, was one of the only Independent candidates to even come close to heavily impacting a presidential election, even then he only recieved 18.9% of the votes. He used his own personal money and still could not compete with the extreme amounts of money that the Republicans or Democrats supply to their candidates. So after all is said, it unfortunately all comes down to money which seems too be the most important issue to most politicians, with the welfare of the country coming it at a long second.

So, basically, you're for a centralized (controlled) economy versus capitalism?

Rather than having two or more different candidates with similar beliefs. Political parties were created to group all of the voters who would've voted for either person A, B, or C, into one person. Giving a better chance of winning a election, and having their political beliefs in place.

Politics is a game, and to win this game, as any other game, you need to know how to play it. Aslong as political parties gives a candidate a better chance of winning an election, then I don't see them going away anytime soon.

The Civil War happened because the Confederacy wanted to secede from the Union, and the Union didn't want that. It was much like the Revolutionary War, except the topic was different.

The way I look at it, political parties keep the country divided, rather than together. They also make it much easier for lazier citizens to simply read a text book definition of say a Democrat, and just say "yep, that's what I believe in." without putting any honest thought into it. In my opinion political parties have created a nation in which two perfectly honest-to-goodness people can hate each other simply because they support a different representative for their beliefs, even if they have never met.

Yea, we need to win in 2012 or else it will be BAD.

They disagreed on something, therefore went to war, right?

Yea, i totally agree with this. Some of my aunts will not go to each other's houses because of political issues. It's crazy. Also, it often seems what your raised as (as far as politics) is what you always agree with. You don't ever get to see another side.

Yes there is hatred between the two parties but how many people do you actually think will want more war? Many people are opposed to the war in the middle eastern area. This leads me to believe that there won't be any war, any time soon.

Personally, No political Parties seems 'crazy' in a way because even though we argue over issues, the main incentive is to help the country. People of the opposing party will think its not helping but thats why we have multiple parties, so we can fix the same issue but by different ways.

No 'political parties' would result in political parties. Parties are just a set of views that they all agree with. How can you remove similar beliefs? Doesn't make sense.

Political parties: People agreeing about a set of topics.

People are naturally going to agree or disagree with stuff. Those who agree, go on one side and those who disagree go on another. There are some fence sitters and they go elsewhere. The only way for there to be no political parties would be for there to be no one that agrees or everyone disagrees. Theoretically this is possible but does anyone truly think that everyone is going to agree or disagree about something. There are only so many sides you can take to a disagreement. o.o
