Define evil

In your own words, define evil.

In my English class we had this discussion about evil. To my surprise everyone's definition was off the wall.
My teacher ended the discussion by saying that nothing is "truly evil" since there are many aspects to it. What someone or something considers evil may not be evil to something else.

There are also circumstances which make some things evil. Like a man stealing bread for his family, is he evil? You wake up and walk to the kitchen but hit your toe on a table, is it evil since it inflicted pain on you? Is anything actually "pure evil?"

What do you define as evil?

Evil is somthing that takes Over thats how I would Define it.

 

But can't something that takes over be good? For example, a group of people over throwing a bad government.

 

Why would it be A bad thing if Good takes over?

 

Most people heard this a lot, and you guys are going to hear it again:
Evil is the absence of good.

The man stole the bread for his family with good intent
as "good" is present, it is not evil.

However, it is hard to actually say if the pain inflicted on your toe by the table is evil, is because..

How can a table exactly be evil?

It has no soul, spirit, or will.

 

The definition of evil is entirely up to an individuals perspective. No two people can have the same exact view of evil, although they may be close.

So, definition of evil: There is no definition, or there are infinite. Which ever you prefer.

 

Nothing is evil and nothing is good. Nothing is right and nothing is wrong.
We have personal morals which define what we think is just and unjust but the true fact is that these can't exist. Society defines what is considered wrong and right by the masses but this indication is only short lived as different society's holds different values.

 

Lambs are killed for food every day. Is this evil?

If not, why is it necessarily evil to kill puppies?

 

I don't think there is such a thing as evil, just something that you think is wrong.

 

I personally do not agree with it, but I do have enough mind to realize its not right or wrong.
(I personally LOVE dogs to fuckin death and would kill anyone so much as harming a puppy)

 

Well evil is opposite to good, and good is whether you make people happy or atleast somewhat feeling okay.

 

Evil is when something is purposely done to harm others, physically or mentally.

But no, in my words evil is a morality choice.
