Well, I don't think trusted is necessarily the best word, but they get more posts per views because their offers are (usually) too good to be true.

 

I'm amazed that the slogan actually attracted people to trade here.

 

Kind of ironic in a sense, with craigslist having scammers as well.

Instead of telling us we need to implement measures to prevent this, how about telling us WHICH measures we need to implement. We work hard to keep people safe, if you don't use an OMM when you trade then you trade at your own risk.

 

Actually LIES. I was going to make a scam statistics thread but I may as well show you this.
Just a warning, there's statistics are only about 95% correct due to human error.

This is Septembers scam statistics. Looks like the main culprits are Active Mems + Forum Addicts, obviously the ones that are going to scam get their post count to a sort of iffy trusted state before they scam. Post count doesn't dictate trustworthiness is a lie, statistically incorrect.

But don't overgeneralize though, not all of leechers/members/active mems/forum add are scammers though.

 

My point wasn't about actual statistics, it was about the general thought is that leechers are less trustworthy than someone of higher postcount.
Not saying this is true, but it is certainly a factor in determining trustworthiness in some people's minds.

 

At first get some expierence, read the guides about a safe trade and only then make the trades.

 

Use middlemen, check peoples vouches ect. Only trade with people you can trust and if in doubt, call a middleman into the convo.

Also check for imposters, always ask for a pm proving that you are talking to who they say they are.

 

Is there any chance you can provide more detail on this verified system? I don't exactly know what you mean, do you mean that we will be having to post our real information on the site? But only for verification purposes and for moderators to view most likely. Am I right? or is it a bit different?

It won't be possible for everyone, so this should be done only for the big traders.

For example, when you reach 1000-2000$ in vouches, you need to verify your identity.

 

If the idea is anything like what I proposed to him, then it'll mostly target the smaller traders, as the big traders already have trust.
Lets say person A just joined, and has a lot of Membership Upgrades to sell.
Person A is selling them cheap, but no one trusts him.
He applies for verification, and provides certain information about himself, and it gets verified.
The member is then more trusted and can sell his product more efficiently.
