Death Penalty

There are several ways you can look at this I believe. The first is yes, if they killed some one in cold blood then they deserve to die. Another way you can look at it is that jail could almost be more of a punishment. I personally think if they kill others they deserve the death penalty but in cases where it is hard to say if it was an accident or if they meant to kill the person then I think they should do jail for life until they have decided the vertic.

 

Jail for life isn't the right thing for a murdurer or possibly any1, It's a huge cost on the state and anyone that is in Jail for life, has nothing to lose especially if there is no chance of a shortened setence, They are the people that cause real shit to happen in Jail as They dont care if their sentence is increased.

 

So your basically trying to say 15 years of decision making time is longer than a life sentence?

The saying "an eye for an eye makes the world blind" is moronic. It makes the world fair.

I think the death penalty is entirely TOO light of a punishment in some situations. I'd like to bestow a torture penalty on the people who are found guilty for the torturing and/or murder of another individual (especially children). Lethal injection is too humane for some of the sadistic fuckers out there.

 

It is acceptable in some cases like - 3 guys 1 hammer that was really cruel or someone killing a child or something a long those lines.

 

The average cost of imprisonment for 1 person is $36,000 per YEAR. I do not see why we should pay more than half million dollars (considering he lives at least 20 years) for someone who took someone's life. It is like rewarding someone for murder by providing them with food, shelter, and medical care. I am in full support of capital punishment. I strongly believe in Hamurabi's code of Lex Taliones (Yes, I am a criminal justice major that's why I know this).

 

It's not just 2 pairs of clothes, and pig food. Think about all the prison guards, the prison it self, the air conditioning etc. Right, it doesn't cost near as much as it costs to live outside of jail, but it costs thousands per prisoner. Multiply a few thousand dollars per year by a few thousand murders. That's a lot of money every year.

 

You are paying the price to separate the offenders from the public. It is a price to pay, but is a humane way of doing so.

The constitution states the government has the right to take a person's life after they are proven guilty by due process; but citizens still do not think that any action merits death.

Can capital punishment be legal? Yes
Can capital punishment be justifiable? People like to think so.

 

I am completely against the death penalty. If your thought process is anything like mine, you too would see that the death penalty is the 'easy way out'. Any one convicted with murder should be hung by their toes and forced to suffer. I know if I killed someone, which I do not intend on doing, I would much rather be appointed the death penalty over suffering somewhere over the rest of my lifetime.

 

I don't think the government should be able to put people to death. The idea of a legislation being powerful enough to be able to put a man to death seems to be a conflict of interest to me. If you think about the purpose of government to begin with I think it would make sense to you. Man should be able to kill man. It should be a free world, man can do as they please with man, only under the punishment of other man. But a legislation that can kill people? It's absurd.

 

Who are these citizens?

 

Death Penalty should be implemented for murderers. I mean, why should we pay taxes (from our taxes) for someone to get "mental help" when he killed someone. The world if better off without them
