    Need to gain weight..

Sup guys.. I'm just in need of a method of gaining weight... I'm currently 5'10 125 pounds, and I do plenty of exercise, well pretty much just running...I have soccer practice every day, and we barely do pushups and situps, just a bit. I'm wondering on what I should eat. I don't want to be fat, xD I just want to gain some weight, and I also want to join the Rugby team in the spring, so I gotta get ready for that. I'm aiming for at least 145 pounds.

the best thing I can think is to try and power train.

Eat lots of proteins and do weight training with heavy weight in sets of short reps.

Pushups and situps are for toning muscle, as they offer little resistance and you do them in large numbered sets.

I've been drinking 2-3 protein shakes a day, and doing 100 situps, 50 pushups, squats etc. and I usually run a mile every other day besides soccer. I think it's what I'm eating though.. Im not sure what to eat...Meat?

You should be eating anything that contains protein. Doubling what you usually eat. Morning Protein after workout. Evening protein after workout. Night time protein after work out. This should repair your muscles and also what type of protein are you taking? You should be taking mass gainer.

Lots of protein and carbohydrates as well. I'd recommend however not use weight gain shakes, use protein shakes and use that for muscle not fat.

Whey Protein is pretty good after a workout. What I usually do is I overwork myself tell I feel sore, then I would load up on protein shakes.

Ya but with the amount of calories he's burning (soccer) a good weight gainer wouldn't produce much fat assuming he uses it properly.

    1.) Get a weight gainer
2.) Fit 4-6 meals into your day.
3.) 3 day workouts, you'll need those day in-between rests plus you'll need to stack on food on those days as well.

You're probably an ecto-morph, difficult gaining weight?
So some junk food may not apply to you, go out and eat a burger once a while, maybe even once a week just to get those gains up and running.

Bodybuilding.com for exercises and workouts. Read everything you can on nutrition, it's most important. It will be pointless if you workout and your diet is terrible. Dieting properly will get you good gains faster. Get Big My Nig, Good Luck. Bodybuilding.com should help and explain more than we can.

Thanks, and thanks to everyone who posted, Many people have told me to increase my meals a day, and have every 3 hour meals. I'll be doing 2 a day workouts for 45 minutes each, plus the usual 90 minutes of soccer practice. I'll also make sure I get a lot of protein. I'll let you know if this works, I'm aiming for 145 in a month or two.

I don't think you understood what I said about muscle building.
Doing pushups and situps is not a way to build muscle, it's a way to tone them.

If you want to build muscle you're going to want to do exercises with high weight, and low repetitions. Like benchpress with 150+ pounds or squats with 200+ pounds, or situps with a 50lb weight on your chest.

Click on the link in my sig..

Just vary the exercises in there. You're not retarded so you'll be able to find a set amount right for you.

Alot of rugby is core strength. These exercises will improve that. As a teenager you don't really be wanting to be lifting heavy weights, and if you're planning on playing rugby, being able to lift big weights won't help as much as these exercises.
