    This is the better alternative to a banner. By default, have it set to active for all accounts while providing the option of disabling it in user settings. A banner wouldn't be as effective.

    This, although I strongly disagree with the reasoning. Ban evaders most likely keep the site running no problem with just their donations.

    Regardless I do agree it'll become too cluttered, I barely even look at the banners nowadays, they're all the same anyways. Not sure if forum alerts are the way to go either.

    I'd much rather go for better visibility for it's section by categorizing it different.

    There is already a way to receive alerts for any new posts within the Community Events sub thread though. For anyone who may not already know:

    1) Click the Community Events subthread.
    2) Click "watch forum"
    3) You can select to get Sythe alerts and/or email alerts when new threads are posted.
