Death Penalty

Is it a good way to justify murder or perhaps justify an act of crime that is extreme?

Think of it if you where a direct family member or close friend of the victim. Is it morally correct to dish out death or would it be more plausible to put that individual in jail for the duration of his life.

Discuss.

 

I guess if it was an extreme case, IE the person slaughtering multiple people, I think the death sentence would suffice. But besides that, no, I don't think it's needed.

 

The death penalty should suffice only in the worst of acts (murder.) Other than that, no.

Slaughtering and torturing multiple people, just to be put out in an instant instead of having to go through the shit they went through?

Death sentence is perfectly fine for me, especially in murder cases.

 

Do unto others as you would have them do to yourself, so if you kill someone, only makes sense to take your own life too. Blood for blood.

 

I think the way it works in the states is perfect.

You only get the death penalty for premeditated murder. Which is just in my opinion. Tax dollars shouldn't be wasted on murders either. It's very hard for somebody to be put on death row falsely as well. Since the jury has to come to an anonymous decision.

 

I would say pay murder with murder.

Why put him in jail and give him or her free food/shelter?

 

I believe any extreme crime (rape, armed robbery, murder, etc.) should result in the death penalty for the perpetrator. Putting them in jail isn't going to do anything, they should just be put to death so the government can save some money.

 

I agree with Kleenex. only if its mass murder would i believe the death penalty be suited.

 

i think the death penalty should only be applied to the cruelest of all crimes. Overall I think that the criminal should receive punishment equal to the crime they committed. A brief stint in incarnation does not change most criminals, they need know the extent of the damaged they done.

 

In my belief, there should definitely be death penalty for serious crimes, like murder. If someone takes the life of a human being, they should be put to justice one way or another. It's cruel, yes, but he did take the life of someone else.

 

Murderers dont deserve A death penalty, Life in jail is much more Painful.

Taking a life should not be done, Atleast give the person a chance to change.

Death penalty is a deterrence. Honestly if I'm trying to decide if I want to kill my worst enemy, if I know I could just live in a jail with free food and not really have anything I have to do, it's not all that bad. Death on the other hand, I will never see my friends, family, etc - life is over. Not to mention all the tax money we would save if we just put them to death. Why waste our money on criminals?

Half joke: If death was better than imprisonment then people would capture their worst enemies and just put them in a cell in their basement rather than killing them.

 

I beleive that if the person has killed one person and seems or is determined to be mentally unstable. Then yes he should be killed. If he is killed for any other reason besides killing an innocent person, then i dont believe it is right to use the death penalty

 

Not just mass murder. Any type of murder, unless it was some sort of accident.

And most people that "Kill" are mentaly insane and simply giving them the death injection would not worry them a bit, putting some on in a 4 wall room with no food would be a better sentance then anything..

 

Cheaper? You think a life time of food, clothing, shelter, and other resources, is cheaper than a lethal injection?

If it was proven the murderer was mentally insane. They wouldn't be put in prison. Instead they would get them help, or put him/her in an insane assylum.

As it can take upto 15 years befor they come to a dicision of putting some on to death and ontop of that just because you watch CSI put some on to death with a needle does not mean its that simple, you need over 200 People in the process to put some one to there "Death" and just to let you know when your in Jail you get 2 Pairs of clothes for 6 Years. The food is not t-Bone Stake, Bacon and eggs or Pizza on thursdays... Its the kind of stuff Pigs eat...

 

hmm i actually think that death penalty is like a "reward". where i live, the only way to recieve a death penalty is to commit murder while robbing a bank (random ik -.- wtf?). if u take someones life and then u can just get off the hook by getting ur life taken in a split second then u shud b proud u wouldnt b tortured like in the old days.
I think that if murder is commited, there should be torture for a sustained amount of time until the murderer dies. to bad its "unconstitutional" bc ppl can go around killing 50,000 ppl and just die instantly themselves by being shot in the head instead of being tortured.
im totally for and supporting torture but torture has to be controlled and its the best way to make the murderers taste vengeance
