Found something valuable.. Do I return it?

i fully agree were not your conscious, buttt it WOULD be alot of effort to track the owner down.

 

Try to find any contact information on the iTouch that will lead you to the owner.

 

Not sure if someone has posted this or not, cba to read all the replies...

But find the serial number on the iPod. (Somewhere in the 'About' section of the settings)

Call the local police station and tell them you found the iPod and would like to put it in a lost and found type thing. If someone has filed it as lost or stolen, then the police will find a match for it and return it to it's original owner. If someone comes in after you report it and has the original box with the serial number on it, then the police can then find a match that way.
However, if a certain period of time goes by and the item is not claimed, you are allowed to take claim of it.

 

I used to work in a store with a lost and found thing. If someone hadn't claimed the item after 3 months, one of the staff got to keep it. So, chances are, no one will claim it and someone at the place you return it to will just keep it.

 

You should call Apple themselves or the carrier of the phone as there's an ID within the general settings that you can give them to help find who it belongs too.

 

It's all about ethics, you legally stole the iPod. The right thing to do is hand it over to the police, in most places after 30 days it is given to you as the finder.

 

To be honest its urs now... no reason to make effort to try return it unless it was a female LOL

If you can find out who it is, do it. If not no sweat.

 

I say put up a "Found iPod!" or something. The claimers have to name the iPod kind and memory, to make sure it's really theirs. Wait a week, and if no one claims it, keep it.

This shit happened on august 11th, i'm pretty sure he's made up his mind. He committed the robbery.

I'd hope you decide to return it or at least try to find the original owner. I love my iPod touch and would hate it to be stolen from me.

 

I would keep it, if they lost it then they lost it. Ofc Im going to be trolled for saying that but its hard to explain and im on my iTouch atm so cba to type a lot. But hey, you might want to hand it in... charge it and go and download an app, it will ask for the iTunes password for whatever email adress it uses. Email that person saying that you found their iTouch and go give it back

Edit: The person that lost it must be so stupid to have dropped it and not notice, and everyone else that could have picked it up left it...

 

you should try your best to return it. If you cant find out who it is and how to contact them then you can keep it.

 

I'd hand it into the police or if your more of the 'finders keeper' kind, back the iPod up back to factory settings so it's a fresh iPod.

 

If you can't find out who it belongs to, then keep it. If you do manage to find out the owner, I would return it.
