How to program an irc applet within a runescape client?

I have no idea how to do this :/ any1 give me a hand?

 

Most of those who have made an IRC window within any type of miscellaneous mmorpg client start by using perl, especially advanced rscps and rsps owners.

If you are familiar with perl, be sure to use IO::Socket, else you will not have any control over what channel you can join.

If you're not familiar with perl just post back, I'll check this topic repeatedly to see if you still need help.
