I'm going with a permanent market ban. If not, a permanent ban.

    Self-Vouching Punishment Reform?

Why does everyone assume the only reasoning behind self-vouching is to scam?

As in Nate's case, where noone wanted to buy his guide because of trust issues, or the lack of proof of it being good (I think it was a guide I believe he was trying to sell).

Just browse the guide section for a bit, and you'll see lots of threads with many posts, tons of views, but noone really would like to buy it without someone else verifying that was indeed successful. I can see many people self-vouching, not to scam, but to just "get the ball rolling".

Sure, it's not right. But at the end of the day, if that self-vouch led to another trade that went down without any problems, is that such a big deal? To some, maybe, but to me? It doesn't warrant a permanent ban from Sythe.org all-together.

Some may see this as a ridiculous idea, however it's what I believe is fair.

I'll use Nate's case as an example. He was banned for creating two "Self-Vouches." He did this too start up and appear trustworthy. Nate never (or knowingly) scammed. I believe an adequate punishment is too start them from scratch. All ranks and vouches gone. I would say postcount too however they make cause issues. Give them a TWC and allow them to start from scratch.

Perm ban is going way too far. Self vouching isn't directly hurting anyone. Just like Nate, there are some cases where honest players will actually create fake vouches. Although there should obviously be a punishment for it, it's not murder.

I support the perm ban option. Whether your intent is to scam someone or not, you are still being dishonest in an attempt to trick someone in to trading with you. Yes, of course, leechers are going to find it difficult to get people to trust them in the beginning, so what. Do what everyone else has to do and WORK towards earning a bit of trust.

HOWEVER, I also believe in special circumstances. This is what we have mods and admins for, to uphold sythe rules and apply them accordingly.

I know this thread isn't directly about Nate, but he is a perfect, recent example of the rules and 'special circumstances' idea. As a leecher he made a mistake, sure, but did he hurt or scam anyone? No. 500 vouches, countless middlemans, UE and OMM later, he is(was) one of the most valuable members of this community.

In a community that is rich with scammers and dishonest people, is it honestly that bad to consider exceptions for the kind of people this site needs?

Perm ban, with the odd and heavily scrutinized exception is my vote :)

    Ok the people have spoken.

65% think the punishment should be reduced, so we will reduce it to 3 months.
