Main thing against Stem cell research is that its killing human life but with stem cell research it might be able to save lives. I haven't made my descision yet.

 

Well if you're talking about using cells from current things to create more, then I dislike it, I think that if I cloned my dog, costing $25000 I wouldn't like it, it'd be a mere clone and not the real thing. I doubt Stem Cell Research will save lives, though.

 

Did you read the article? or do you even know what stem cells do? In layman terms they adapt to turn into any form or kind of cell wherever they are placed in the human body.

I'll give you an example. A 13 year old is riding his bike down a street, He falls into the road and gets hit by a car, He is 13 and now has Spinal problems preventing the use of his legs. Stem Cells can Help grow and repair broken or missing cells, Expressively in younger People Seeing as they have a better Immune system and tend to react to stem cells easier then Adults.

And to OP, Who said "as long as its not taking current life." I don't count fetus's as a form of life. They are unable to live, breath, feed, walk, See, talk, perform on there own, they are a Parasite until they are done breast feeding. a Human parasite while in the stomach. One that could be used for much greater purposes in some situations.

Yes, I know of such research, but I believe it will not save lives, and if it did it would be artificial. Time chooses when we die and I believe that really, this may aswell be a "Immortality 1 / Death 0" situation. If we are going to research in something that will keep us alive, then the world will obviously end up over populated and artificial. Stem cells being used as reproduction though, as I mentioned in the first post, is what I really dislike. This is the ultimatly wrong and artificial thing in which I would never pay for under any circumstances. Cloning consists of taking real DNA from a living thing and recreating what was once there by putting it into an Egg Cell. This is also under the Stem cell research department as it regrows, Look it up.

I think its wrong and right in some ways just like stem cells.

 

The medicine in your cabinets is artificial. Let's not be hypocritical.

The gist of your argument is that stem cell usage is artificial. Not natural. You seem to have a problem with the fact that it might save lives. If I'm not mistaken, there seems to be some underlying fear of change, in this case, of the technology of present civilization.

The use of stem cell could very well give way to an entirely new branch of scientific discovery, as well as human evolution.

 

so true. I would be scared by the organ growing. If they eventually mastered it they would be growing hearts everywhere

 

I think stem cell research is a great idea. If people stick to these morals about it being bad our race would never advance. Infact is has been shown in past time that people morals or beleifs generally stand in the way of human progression, look at the dark ages for example.

From what i know about stem cell research, you would take stem cell samples at a younger (late teens early 20's) age, and if you were to have an issue, say kidney failure, you would be able to repair it.

The only thing you can't repair with this really though is the brain because of the data stored in it, if we were to use stem cell research we would all life until we because crazy cooooc's.

I think stem cell research should be looked into further, it could definantly help, it just frustrated me that peoples morals force the government to take to part in this.

 

There are other ways than using embryos to get stem cells, your bone marrow contains stem cells but it is only around 1 in 10,000 cells. If scientists found a way to switch all the genes in a cell back on, and make it unspeciallised, then they would be onto something. I personally am for stem cell research, mostly because I think that it would be a great achievement, to be able to regenerate or remake organs and tissues in the body, and save lives. But on the other hand, it might allow humans to "play god."

There is nothing wrong with stem cell research. Medical progression is more important than old religious morals to be honest.

 

this is like arguing about abortion you will not ever have a real yes or no.

 

I completely support this research because the pros clearly outweigh the cons. We have much to gain and only some to lose.

 

in all seriousness what are the cons? people "feel bad" because dead fetuses are being used to help save people? oh the shame! even so the umbilical cord does contain a lot of cells as stated above. Yes to stem cells and yes to abortion.

 

In the end it is what is better and not what is right. If the benefits of stem cell research vastly outnumber the immoral issues of such practices, you can be certain they will continue.

 

The main reason that people are pushing for stem cell research is that is does help save lives.

Once there is a safe way to do it then I have no problem with it. Sure you can argue just to use aborted babies - but that's still taking a life one way or another. Maybe when it has advanced to the point where it can be harvested from babies (with the parents consent of course) and not harm the baby, then sure.

 

Do you guys do not see why the government is preventing the research of stem cell technology, they think that the research will go too far and reach the point of were humans play God.

You must have no knowledge of stem cell technology whats so ever, its not all about religion its about how they are taking a life away.
