Bias moderating

Seems like I made a thread about this before.. anyways

Backstab555 was banned a few months ago for attempting to sell his Sythe account, and I think everyone on staff at the time knew he was just a stupid troll, especially Nick. He never sold/shared his Sythe account, and remained banned. Now, http://sythe.org/showthread.php?t=847897 this guy is unbanned because "as you didn't actually share/sell your account in the end." Why was he unbanned and Backstab wasn't? Was it because the staff didn't like him?

It wasn't certain that Rohail shared his account so we gave him the Syed treatment.

Backstab didn't know that it was a Sythe mod when he was trading.

 

But see, you never know that. Say if he did not get caught red handed, I'm sure he would've went through with it for whatever he was selling it for.

 

These situations are dealt with on a case by case basis. Because there is a lot of gray area in this type of transaction, staff must deliberate and make a specific decision each time. Although it may appear on the surface that the two situations were identical, they were in fact very different, and were dealt with accordingly.

The simple fact that he liked to joke around a lot does not justify his actions. To use the excuse "I was just kidding around" as a scapegoat does not suffice on Sythe. If someone offers to purchase your Sythe account, just do the right thing and block them. There are plenty of people out there to get laughs from, let these guys go and your Sythe account will be safe. Playing around with them will only get you into trouble.

 

Thanks for the responses, and just to make it clear, I'm not trying to get Backstab unbanned. In fact, I couldn't give 2 shits less if he stays banned. Back to the point: regardless of who he was talking to(Sythe mod, regular member, or someone who doesn't even know what Sythe is) he never let anybody on his Sythe account or received any form of payment, the exact same thing with the other guy. I understand it's a "case to case" dealio but, this case is exactly the same as Backstab's, regardless of what anyone wants to say.

To me, it seems the staff were gunning to get rid of Backstab any which way they could, which involved setting him up in my opinion. Can someone explain to me this, though:

That's biased moderating.

Having a bias is a good thing but too much bias is basically never good!

 

I must say the sythe moderator shouldent of tricked him into it and gone along with it in someways that was leading him on . I also belive it was a troll but hey what does my opinion mean?

 

If i had an infkuence in this decision i would at least further investigate how serious he was about selling. God if only i could think how many times outstanding sythe members have jokingly offred to buy my account on tinychat or whatever.... Its not a big deal esp considering we are all savvy enough to know how an ip works and how quick we would be banned!

I hate to bring this up, but to support my argument i must bring up the user--- reece.
