I see your point, but how is your argument relevant to the debate at hand? Ends usually justify means, and this applies to organ donation.

Because what if doctors were allowed to harvest organs from the dead without consent? It is virtually the same as stealing something.

I admit I haven't followed the last page or so of this thread, but nobody was suggesting organs be taken without consent.

This is true, but the question here is if it is morally wrong. Currently we have the ability to choose. If enough people thought it was morally wrong to refuse to donate organs, it is possible that one day you would not have the choice. This is why my reference to stealing is relevant to the conversation.

I find that humorous. They would be against helping people.

You can only steal something that is owned. Who owns a dead body? The dead person? Dead people don't own a thing. Honestly I don't think it should be a choice, we might could save a crap load more people if it wasn't.

OT: I would say you would be foolish to say no. You don't loose a thing and it helps people. Would you want to die because someone refused to give you their organ after they're dead? Would you want someone else to die? Your organs are either thrown away, or given to someone.

There is nothing wrong with it. I agree with Sythe. Why would you help those nasty socialists? Unless i can choose who to help or not, which is impossible i am not donating my property. They are mine and mine only.(selfish+greedy)

No i am not. There is nothing wrong with choosing not to donate your organs. Re-read the posts maybe.

But you don't want to donate because it might go to someone whom you disagree with? At least that's what I got from your post  .

Well I don't see anything wrong with it, at the end of the day it is a choice. I myself am an organ donator, as my view is that when I die, my organs no longer serve any purpose for myself, but if they then could be used to save another person's life, happily, they can have them. In a way its kind of like how years ago people were buried with worldly possessions like gold etc. for the afterlife, when in reality, they were not needed, much like organs.

Dead people do have rights. Wills are the expression of the wishes of a living person, not the rights of a dead person.

Not to mention that your dead body is usually left to your next of kin.

What are rights and where do they come from to begin with?

Refusing organs I believe is wrong. You are dead, why care what is left in/on your body? I checked the little box as a organ donor on my license.

Is refusing to donate your organs wrong?

I think that saying no is not wrong necessarily, I mean you have a right to what you do with your body. I do think that offering your organs after death is a good thing to do. Without them, others could die or suffer something severe. Now you probably think that what i wrote above was really generic, because it is. Truth is vague and seems generic. Now to the not so generic part of the post. If you've ever known anyone who is in need of an organ transplant you might have a slight idea of how stressing, complicated and hard it is on families. With that knowledge I guarantee you would not think twice about signing that piece of paper stating you will hand over your body to serve a greater good.

Others can have all my organs when I die because I will have no purpose for them. Not one bit, no reason at all for a dead being to keep something that could be vital for other's existence. But I wouldn't donate organs, blood yes, while I'm still alive. When we die.. does it really matter?

You idiots, Islam forbids the SALE of organs, not organ donating itself.

    http://www.islamonline.net/servlet/...h-Ask_Scholar/FatwaE/FatwaE&cid=1119503543788

And to the Israeli organ harvesters who harvest from dead Palestinians, poor countries and Israel itself, I have no words to describe how I feel about that.
