    Death - your thoughts?

My question is what do you think will happen to you when you die?
After researching some quantum physics experiments my view on death was completely changed. I now think that once we die we are awakened to a new state of consciousness beyond our comprehension in this life. What is your view?

Edit: to make it more interesting your thoughts on the more elaborate perspective that I've posted below:
Quantum mechanics states that reality as we know it is an illusion of our consciousness, and that our observations of the matter around as has a direct effect on how it materializes. If this is true that would make our consciousness like a dream - a "ride", so when we get off the ride do we awake to a new state of awareness?

Conciousness is an illusion. Electrical patterns in the brain tell us that we exist. Without the brain, there is no conciousness. Everything that you know comes from what you see, hear, taste, and so on. Without these senses, and your memories of them, "you" do not exist, because "you" are made up of paterns of proteins and the electrical movements that pass through them. After you die your atoms simply rearange and diffuse amongst all matter in the universe, and the energy in your body transfers to it's surroundings. If there were a higher state of mind like you say, then it will be the opposite of everything we know. We would not think, because thinking involves a brain, therefore we would not be conciousness because conciousness is defined as being aware you exist.

If you're interested in that, look up ascension in the science-fiction series "Stargate". It's quite similar.

Anyway, life is a disease and ends like a disease, through termination. In my *humble* opinion, there is no "after". Through observational physics, death is simply one observer less to see reality. If you don't mind, could you post a few articles on the stuff you read? I'd like to see it :D

That isn't how quantum physics works at all.. I'm afraid what you were reading was a load of rubbish.

Personally, I believe that when our blood stops circulating, our brain dies and we just.. go. There's nothing supernatural about it, there's no eternal thought afterwards because there is nothing left to think with.

I honestly don't know. Supposubly we go to heaven. But I'm not so sure. I mean how does it feel to be dead. Who knows?

I'm not claiming that there was any quantum physics experiment that proved this thought, rather an experiment inspired the idea of such a thought.

I'd think once your existence ceases, you're consciousness ceases, but as the previous poster mentioned, there is no proof and it is all opinions.

Actually, there have been people who have died and came back to life.

    Death - your thoughts?

You die, you get buried, or cremated. no after life, or anything else.

So why live? Why not just another experience, life is a good/bad experience.

    Death - your thoughts?

well sometimes its pretty cool to think about this.
i was talking to my dad about this in the car once.
we thaught it would be pretty cool, if everybody, was not a person. but we are all just our own thing. controlling a body, but without knowing we are something greater, as we have taken the mind of a human.
like what i mean, is we could be something greater then "me" or a human, but we could be just "matter" , that controls the mind of a human, its the same with animals. we could all be the same "original" species or whatever you would call it, but just have chosen other "hosts", but now dont know it as we have now the mind of the "host" we have picked.

and once we have died, we will just take the mind of another host, as some say. " a baby animal, or human, does not have a soul until it thinks " , or the time it has no soul, it could just be an empty host, this would be whilst the baby is still developing in the woum or whateva.

    anyway, idk.
    pretty deep.
    im only 15, but anyway.
i like to think this theory anyway.
its not death that im afraid of, its the dying.
thinking of what your going to miss out on.
it's going to fucking suck if in the future, they have created a way of immortality, being able's to consciously go into your "greater" form or whateva, and get a new host. and merge your memories from the recent host, with the new one.
as even if there is nothing when you die.
thats ok, you feel nothing ( im hoping :p ) you wont care at the time lol.
never the less, i would prefer never to die. ( or just like the theory i said above )
    i love life ^_^

    Death - your thoughts?

I believe when we die we go into a state of rest or somewhat of a deep sleep until the tribulation or/and when God comes to give us judgement, i don't think anything immediate happens, though i am unsure but that's ok because Deuteronomy 29:29 compensates the fact gaps we may have when trying to understand such great a being as God.

I believe it to be exactly like before you were born. No blackness, no dreaming. It's hard to describe, but easy to see what I mean. And I agree with you, it's a very scary thought. My belief in death scares the hell out of me.

I'm an atheist, so i really don't believe in an afterlife.
If you die, then your dead, that's my theory

Being a atheist has nothing to do with believing in an afterlife or not.

On topic: If you die, you are dead. Nothing happens etc,etc

    Death - your thoughts?

As superdude said, atheism says nothing about the afterlife. There are many atheistic religions that have some form of afterlife, and there are many other atheists out there who while not part of any sort of organized religion still think there is something after death.
