[denied] Do something about scammers and victims

This is not about: - "Deposits of any sort on Sythe to prevent future scams"
Its just a wake up call that Sythe should assure the users are safe on this website, What has sythe done to decrease this amount of reports?

This has been going on for as long as i can remember. Does Sythe even care about the victims? Isnt it time to really step up the security here and add new security features to protect Buyers aswell as sellers from scammers. I believe Sythe should take more responsibility between a buyer and a seller, as they are not providing the extra security thats needed for secure trades.

Why hasnt Sythe stepped up their Security game even after 10+ years i come back to the "report a scammer" section and always see the same type of posts, "X scammed me" or "Y recovered their account".

I mean having a "Report a scammer" section is absolutely not enough security for the users.

Some suggestions :
- Have a paid Escrow service that takes x% of the trade.
- Let users ID verify themselves and create a badge so it will be shown to other users. If someone with an ID verification badge scams, just give out their information to the victim.
- Stop the entire OSRS/RS3 account marketplace. Buying accounts on Runescape has always been messed up, id say 80% of the scams consists of accounts getting recovered.

 

It's the internet. Name one blackmarket that actually prosecute scammers. There's people who live by a code and actually have some dignity, whereas others will do anything and everything to exploit any situation they're in. Eventually we're dealing with money here and I believe the majority of the people on the website are either teenagers or people in their 20's, just realising the value of money.

No support. People are the same and some never check the things. Some things are just inevitable, like e.g imposter scamming. To the questions:

Answer: People don't actively trade on Sythe that much. They advertise and trade on discord. Sythe does not hold any transactions, if I understand this correct, they're basically MM'ing a transaction. Who's gonna pay for this? Certainly not the owners, and I don't even think they want to implement such a system ever. Sythe is meant to be an open-market, if I recall correct. Having a paid escrow service removes it's purpose and can only be used for limited things, since things like services would be a bit meh to use with an escrow. Escrow is usually used an item, not a service.

- Let users ID verify themselves and create a badge so it will be shown to other users. If someone with an ID verification badge scams, just give out their information to the victim.
How should they verify themselves (like how do we make sure someone isn't cheating the system)? Who's gonna confirm? Seems like a waste of time for me, cause some people just don't care, if you live in Japan, Singapore or w.e anyways. It's not like you're gonna find him IRL. So some people won't care and still rip you off.

Sythe is open for a lot of trades, including accounts. People are dumb enough to not know about safety, and Sythe has plenty of precautions and warnings about trading and how to trade safe. Sythe can only do so much to help the daily user trading safely.

 

Great ideas, so they will never happen.

 

Good intentions, I can appreciate it. However, this type of thread should be on the "Do Not Suggest" list at this point. It has been denied, in every color and variation, at least a dozen times.

 

Honestly, i don't get all the crying about how scammers are behind handled here, nor the actual scam cases for that mather. Link me to any site with better system... that work both ways.

Only ever thing is maybe staff trying to reach out to whoever scams by whatever channels possible.
